I dunno if there's an answer to this, but is there a defined height for jackboots? I heard officers' ones were taller, but were early EM ones taller too, given the scarcity of leather later on?
I've got DDR army ones, which stand 42cm tall from the heel, but I notice that some of you had noticeably shorter ones.

Early ones where longer, later shorter, not sure of the length, herrs some in Poland, 1939,

Thanks Steve - confirms what I've seen in other photos too. I'm assuming that the shortage of raw materials later on in the war meant that jackboots got shorter too.

Either that or they started growing longer legs.
