Matching kit/ pouches and weapons to be a bit more realistic

Hi, I am trying to match my loadout and weapon so it is a bit closer to reality. My aim was to get an M14 looking a bit like a G43 but other tasks have got in the way. As a result, I have an early war uniform, G43 pouches and an MP40. I have been resisting getting the MP40 as I didn't think it would be that normal for regular EMs to have MP40s. It would be OK to have the G43 however.... The choice I need to make is either to carry on and finish the M14/ G43 so I can keep the pouches; get MP40 pouches or get a Kar98 and Kar98 pouches (plus an expensive amount of shells and stripper clips). I am a bit worried about being hopelessly outgunned with a shell ejecting 330fps rifle while at the same time it costing an arm and a leg. Did soldiers end up with mismatched pouches and weapons? Did many troops end up with an MP40 where they would normally have a rifle? I should have gone Falshy, it's easier Help.
