No its ok relaly the point of these forums is to get advice, the point im trying to make though is that you could probably get a more knowledgeable adn concrete answer using google or wiki in the time it takes to ask on here.
All i've done is put the keywords of your questions into googel and got the answer in seconds.
Just trying to help you develop your researching skills, you're going to need them if you get into wwii stuff.
Especially before you buy stuff to make sure you get the right things and dont get ripped off yeah?
Plus its fun to research once you get into it.
I reckno if yo read the entire atthefront website, acthung panzer.com and that digger history one today you'll know shedloads more than most folk abut the panzer arm.... AND .. be really well equipped to make your next purchase.
I'm in a sarcy mood Lewis, please dont let me stop you asking questions just try and get into the research side of the hobby, its worth it honest.

after 1943 the pink pipeing was discontinued on the collars, but it was left on the deathsheads

just noticed, yours is cut diagonallly on the front breast wrapover.
mine and pauls are cut vertical
we have late war issue, yours is the EARLY version.
full pipeing, daigonal cut
ours are late issue, vertical cut, and no pipeing, (easier to produce)
so yes, yours is still a good jacket

You have four choices.
ones not that realistic as an option.
1) earry war panzer crash beret
2) schiff side cap in black
3) M43 cap in black
4) Steel helmet

i "should" change it, but i never get round to it,
only sid has ever noticed

its possible if you're doing late war, poor equipment stocks meant troops got whatever was in the depot.
Ahats a hat if you're being carpet bombed....

I also noticed that It wasnt in keeping with the Sven hassle look, but kept that too myself, as the impression is a great laugh, and I think being a stitch nazi would rip it too pieces, and that would take all the fun out of it.

Good point re late war availability. I have a photo of an SS PG officer in 1944/45 wearing an officer's ski cap with an army pattern eagle on the front and a Deaths Head pinned or sewn underneath - I've reproduced it 'as is' for my impression of him. Non-regulation uniform combinations etc. doesn't necessarily make it 'wrong' historically.
Thats right.
You occasionally see weird stuff like ive a photo of a gunner on a 25pdr with a US combat knife on his belt.
However its good practice in re-enactment (should any of you want to go that far) to go for the 'lowest common denominator' impression of the average squaddie in issue kit.
E.g. their is photo of a guy at Arnhem with 1st airborne carrying and using an m1 carbine, these were never on the books but if everybody chose to take that one photo as proof it was done and re-enact it you'd end up with a totally false impression in the eyes of th epublic as to the airborne soldier.
A lot of groups allow about 1 man in ten to carry a non standard or captured item.
Bu for our games, nobody will care that much.
