Might have been asked before but has anyone ever bought one of thse cheap plastic helmets off of ebay?
I only want to cover it with a camo cover anyway.
Would this look realistic or are they total pap?
Thanks

I think Marsha has one. From memory she had to drill out the vents and paint it.
Standing in front of her the shape of the helmet looks slightly wrong, but certainly not silly. From five yards it looked spot on to me and you wouldn't know it wasn't the real deal.
Covered in a camo cover I'm sure it would look just fine. But I would ask Marsha or somebody else in the know if the plastic helmets will be rigid enough to take a cover though, I have absolutely no idea how solid they are.

have you checked out Heides Helmets on this forum viewforum.php?f=115 he's producing fibreglass copies with moulds taken from steel helmets for about £10 + P&P, I've got one of his british airborne ones and it's a good quality :good:

Yep, don't know about the strength/rigidity of the ebay ones, but Heide's helmets will easily support the metal brackets for the cover.

you'll need to source, or make a liner though as it's just the shell only he supplies.

yup close up at the front is a bit wrong but once you put a cover on it you can't tell the difference plus it held well
