Looking good matey, why don't you shorten the bandolier using a safety pin just until you grow in to it a little better. Other than that very jealous, good looking Garand. Nice one :good:

Don't use mud on your face, it washes off when you sweat, use charcoal or get a wine cork...make sure it's actually made out of cork (you don't want to be melting rubber on to your face) and burn it then use that to black your face.

looks good tom , disturbingly authentic due to your young age. ( 40 year old private soldiers stretch the bounds of believability , i know, i'm 40)

I know what you mean but maybe just a tad too young...give it a couple of years and it'll be spot on.

Dont worry about not having buckle boots many airborne soldiers kept their jump boots til the end of the war as a status symbol rather than use the same boots as the infantry, also having a greatcoat is better than having nothing like alot of the guys at Watch, shows you put some effort in, also they are realy warm :D if its a french one then it's very similar to the US ones, for some reason the one I bought from there was the french one but came with british brass buttons on it instead of the plastic ones.

yeah, the french ones have the brass buttons on but SoF sell actual plastic m43 greatcoat buttons ( any OD colour butons should do to be honest) for a tenner.

Right... with the purchases made at Stoneleigh my 82nd Glider infantry impression is ready for critique. I know I've probably got a way to go but don't know what to do next... I know that I can use all the stuff for Merril's Marauders if not 82nd so by all means be brutal. I can always ignore you! lol :)

The uniform is a set of HBTs and an M41 jacket from Epic (same as SOF). I went this route as the HBTs will also do me well for a far east impression

The webbing is all original (and mostly early dated) apart from the 1911 holster and the shovel which are both SOF. The helmet is a converted M48 Danish job. The shoes were sold to me 2nd hand as ATF roughouts but I suspect they're from the dodgy run of boondockers they had.

Thompson is my 1928 with its M1A1 bits put back on and a US sling from SOF.

There's a meat can in the meat can bag along with a cutlery set and the US blanket that usually resides in my Chindit kit is in the Doughboy pack.

I'm not at all sure about the thompson mag pouches being at the back. But I tried them at the side and had problems with the ammo/gp bag, which is intended for grenade and other misc stuff.-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

Looking good Tom, the French greatcoats are very passable for US (pocket should be sloping but who cares - and it's not bad for Brit either)

And now I am going to tease you mercilessly, you Mr dangly-straps person - and it wasn't the fashion back in the '40s to wear boots with laces undone (where did that bonkers idea come from anyway? )

Indeed it does; but wait until he tries to get a mag out of that 5-cell pouch.....then put one back in!

Yith - what's with the 82nd patch?

Its for St Lo.... Which is what this stuff was bought for...

Yeah... getting the mags out will be a problem... hmmm It will have to move. I'm just not sure how to get all the stuff on the belt and still have the suspenders or doughboy pack clip on!
