("A Christmas tree at both ends" was a derogatory term we used in the 1970s to describe films brought in for 'D&P' that had sat in a customer's camera for a year or more. These snaps were taken on a Kodak Retina IIa of 1951 vintage on Kodak BW400CN film that has indeed been in the camera for over a year waiting to be finished off  )
