Hi all, Im very interested in getting into this side of interesting with the want of taking up a german role. Im very interested in trying out an SS loadout, but how do you guys, when you first get into the sport, buy all the kit when its quite expensive to get all the kit? Do you just start of with a basic era weapon and the clothing without webbing and kit to just build up over time? What would you say are the real basics to attend a WW2 skirmish?
Thanks all!
hello and welcome
you just build up kit over time and borrow what you need until you have all you want (if ever), its best to start out with a basic Heer (infantry ) impression at first as that will get to be used at more events then move on to airborne or SS later on , if you go straight for SS you might wait a while before getting to use it as it may not fit the scenario.the other thing is not to spend too much until you try it , WW2 airsoft is quite different to regular airsoft and it would be a waist to spend a load of dosh and then end up selling it all because you didn't like it. where are you based , Gunman airsoft offer free loan uniform at their games and hire out guns so if you'r down south or up to the midlands it's a good way to start out .

Whereabouts are you based?
Yep get some basic kit webbing and a gun build up slowly and always always ask we won`t bite. Better to ask before buying than spend and get the wrong stuff.
Gunman games has free loan kit and guns so you can just turn up.
German way to go

Hi,
in terms of kit, you certainly don't need ALL the webbing, but you do need some. For a German impression the absolute basic, imho, a grey wool uniform, a hat (ideally a helmet), gaiters if you are going to wear low boots (flapping trouser bottoms look awful), a belt, ammo pouches which you can fit weapon specific magazines in (jamming MP40 stick magazines in pockets doesn't work) and some sort bag to put your bits and pieces in (breadbag or similar).
Yes, this is going to cost some money, but you can save on the helmet by getting a cheap plastic novelty Stahlhelm rather than a steel one.
As Gordon says, doing SS only will cut down the games you can go to, and we aren't exactly overwhelmed with events. If you don't mind doing a bit of sewing, get SS and Heer insignia and just swap them on the jacket for the relevant events.
You won't even be able to buy a gun until you have done all the relevant legal stuff, and if you have never, ever done Airsoft before, I would strongly recommend going to some open days at a local airsoft site to get a feel for it and will also let you get your UKARA registration.
Cheers

Cheers for the helpful and friendly advice ! Im based in the south of London (Bexleyheath) and have been airsofting on and off for a couple of years on and off and Its great
First airsoft gun I bought was a crappy two tone MP40 then a thompson so WW2 era has always been an interest
Oh and from experience wheres the best place to get kit from? Id hate to get ripped off before Ive even begun!
Read the kit guides to start. Some links might be out-of-date, but I strongly advise asking before you buy anything - some of the stuff people sell is wrong, poor quality, or unnecessary - believe me, I've wasted enough money in the past to know!

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
yup , look at the guides , make a shopping list and post a question about what's on the list to make sure it's the best quality/value in you'r price range.

Lots of good advice here
As said, unless you have pots of money, think carefully about what impression will get you the most useage.

Or just blow a load of dosh on stuff which is good enough and then do it all again over the following years. Ahem.
I think we've all done that.
You can pick up really good bargains in the for sale section of the forum, all my best stuff has come from there, you just need to be patient.
If you've got an MP40 and a Thompson, mags for both fit in MP40 pouches (I've used both weapons as a 'German'), so get a set of those, they are pretty cheap.

This has all been really helpful so thanks to you all! Its nice to get all the info I need and feel welcomed into the community instead of being shunned as a 'noob' ![]()
If you get the chance it would be worth trying to get to the San Marino game down south. I'm sure the Germans will have plenty of kit to lend. They all seem to drip bling and spare bits ![]()
