Having attended a number of events over the years, it's quite common for the Germans to be the "hunters" against a clandestine allied force, and I have never found German players having a problem with spending large amounts of time patrolling on foot, or just being in their base, whilst the allied players get to sneak n' beak.
However, when I thought of an historically-based event, which would involve the allied force hunting for Germans for a proportion of the time, I just got the feeling that it wouldn't appeal to the allied players, because they've become so used to being the hunted.
Have the allies been spoiled over the years, or are they actually waiting for the chance to hunt down the Germans??

Spoiled? Steiner, We have been waiting for the chance to swan around on patrols and ride in Jeeps ourselves for years.
Edit* in fact, to answer your question as worded: as an allied player I would be prepared/excited to be the hunter, and indifferent/uninterested in being the hunted (again).
You seriously think schlepping around the woods with no permanent base, vehicles, cooking facilities, fire and trying to remain hidden is being spoiled??? You were an Allied player at Jedburgh. Did you feel spoiled?
I would like the chance as an allied player to hunt the Germans for once, not have to lug my 24hr kit around with me for a change.
"Will you stop talking about the war!!"
"What, you started it!"
"We did NOT start it!"
"Yes you did, you invaded Poland..."

Yes, it was incredibly exciting. Seriously, I loved it. I've played on both sides of similar events and enjoyed them all. This is just a question in my mind, and if I have an overwhelming response from allied players that they'd like to be the "hunters" (although this would only be a part of the overall scenario), then I might take my plans further.

perfectly happy to be either a patrolling allied soldier or sneaking German soldier.might be nice to be brit in a lighter load with the kettle on etc.

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well

Ditto
. Yeah, what Rich said.
It's why I was never wildly enthused with the Foxley game, a choice between sneaking around in the woods for 24 hrs as ray mears with a stiff upper lip or being a german.
Thanks for the responses so far, chaps. (To confirm, if the idea does become an event, it won't be a Jedburgh-for-Jerries.)

I've had an "allies as hunters" event in my head for several years now. If there's demand for it and my fellow CiA organisers are up for it, it wouldn't be hard to develop it.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Weren't the Allies hunters at Hauptmann Horn?
Anyway, I'm happy being hunter or hunted, Axis or Allied, just try to avoid the first weekend in July....
Cheers

I suppose we were, yes... but not quite the same sort of event?
What Craig, Ranj and Rich said first.
While running away and hiding suits my particular airsoft skills I will go along with the majority!
Charlie
I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.
I've never seen you run away Charlie, you're always in a heap on the floor.
I don't think the allies have been spoilt, those who have wanted to play a given role have, generally speaking, found a way to do it. That said I'd welcome a role reversal and Pete if the idea you had in mind was the one you mentioned to me then count me in.

Yep, our next event will be called 'Deutsche Schwächlinge auf der Flucht' (May not be gramatically correct)

Yes I'm beginning to realise that my "if I can't see them then they can't see me" method of camouflage doesn't actually work.
To be fair though, you're being unfair on yourself there. I think the sequence of events is:
Charlie starts to run away; after two steps Lardy shoots Charlie; Charlie lies in heap on the floor for 10 minutes. [repeat]
If I might suggest that you don't shoot me quite so quickly then you may get to see slightly more of my running away...

In fairness, there seemed to be quite a few people trying that approach at Eagles. Heads behind trees and great big squishy bodies sticking out either side just crying out for a .25.

Don't forget half the German team at Op Jedburgh comprised people who are normally Allies.
For my part, I much prefer being a conscript and hence would always choose the hunting side. Pretending to be a crack elite supersoldier just strains my credulity a bit too far.
When I first saw the title of this thread, and then read the poll inside; I was quite shocked - and as yet have kept quite with my views until debate had died down a little;
Well basically, out of all the WW2 airsoft events I've attended over the past 8 years (Gunman/CiA/Dough-Boy/AGS), the premise has been "landed Allied forces push back the German war machine" games, with the allies always on the attack. I'd love for once to participate in a game where the Allied forces were in defence (I don't really count sneaky sneaky SOE avoidance and front-line defence, BTW.)
