Right we've all had a good brag about the bargain we found at a car boot, or the amazingly accurate repro BD we got for a steal...
But whats the WORST bit of kit you've ever bought or what was the most pointless purchase that you bought and have *never* used.
Pointless kit is a bit tricky for me as i re-enact and most of it comes in useful but i think for pointless my 1944 dated life vest probably comes close as its too valuable/fragile/one use to ever do any more with than wear for photoshoots... oh that or my skeleton bren vest that holds six bren mags brilliantly and in comfort but anything smaller falls out of... be great if i had a bren!
waste of money was probably my first quite cheap german visor cap...it wasnt *that* bad to start with but i then chopped about with it to give it a crusher look and wrecked it!
So what have you thrown money down the drain on?

I know there's plenty of pointless things that I've bought. But for some reason I can't think of what they are right now.
Maybe because I actively have tried to forget them! ![]()
If I remember any I will be sure to post.
Pointless? Loads of things, and that's why I love 'em.
I have my eyes open for a Royal Navy jacket - that will be pointless too.
It's the tedious necessities I have little love for.
However worst bit of kit?
I dunno either... I shall have to try and remember too.
How about an entire Russian loadout that never got used, and then got sold on?
I also have about a dozen field phones of varying nationalities. I don't even have eleven other people I'd want to talk to!
oo we could do something great with all those phones. ![]()

I would love to get a switchboard, but they're not cheap, and come up very rarely. I was tempted to make one as a stopgap, but it's yet another project I've not got round to.
Even now we could all 'pool phones' and have an HQ with loads running off to forward positions, you know, for the right event.

You just want to be a receptionist as well as a clerk, don't you?

If you deffinatly really want to use one, I have one or two about I could lend for an event*...
They're late war tropicised 10-Line jobbies, as released with the 1944 tropicised version of the Type L field phone (The Type J). Like the Type J, they never got used in anger during WW2.
[*plus enough working 'phones to use with them.]

Pointless and never used?
Umm. When starting out I bought some bits to fill in until I got proper stuff which never, in the end got used - a post war bundeswehr belt, a plastic Stahlhelm, among other things. A gas 1911 which I hated as I hate gas guns and I sold after firing about four shots from it.
Probably the most useless thing I have is an RAF heliograph, but it was my Dads and I like it.
The most absolutely useless Airsoft (not WW2) thing I have is my spare SLR, which I bought in case I broke my main SLR. I just couldn't bear the idea of being without one and I've no idea if Star/Ares still make them. Both are now protected against breakage as they live in their gun bag and haven't been to a game for a couple of years now.
Second most useless things are my collection of 'sniper' scopes, although I could fit one to my K98 should I so choose.
Cheers

Just get some post-war DR-8 reels and connect them peer to peer. Works great. Did that last week in our game ![]()
And we are going to test our BD71 and BD72 back-to-back this weekend. Together with 9 EE8 telephones.
(I own 2 BD72's and 1 BD71 and 5 EE8 phones...friends have 4 other EE8's)
To be ontopic: I think I will put my original German Stielhandgranaten chest onto the list, as I am too scared to use it ingame to scratch/break it... so only usefull for static displays. Together with my Zeta Labs Mosin Nagant sniper rifle... but that's no kit.

That reminds me... The Tanaka Browning Hi Power... What a piece of sh*t... took it out once in an internal pocket. Never even leaned on it... it broke. The plastic was awful.
Then it sat at home until I sold it to Del, I think... ![]()
WE Luger. Use once in sennybridge. Got of one shot, then it was full auto until the gas vented out the top. Never got round to fixing it and it was sold for a fraction of the cost.

1940 BD's brought last year at stoneleigh and still not used.
Garand Bandolier, never worn it. Actually haven't fired my Garand in anger yet and finished that over 6 months ago! So thats been a bit pointless atm.
Getting its first run out at an open day this Sunday at Xsite. And how I will rejoice in shooting the M4 Highcap hoards!
Stu

My WE hipower only broke after being run over by a tractor (don't put it in an ammo pouch like me, it will fall out). Although the internals are still okay and the mag aswell. Will buy a new one when I have the cash and it's on stock somewhere.
And for the useless bit of kit? I really don't have a lot of ww2-kit (and it was fairly well researched beforehand) so I guess my GS beret. One size too big. I look like proper twat wearing it, suppose everyone does though.
Why do you always carry that umbrella?
-Bad memory. Never could remember the password. Knew no Jerry would carry one. Had to prove I was an Englishman, you see.
A bridge too far
A blunt bayonet.
Badum-tish!

In terms of WWII kit probably my Tornister. Its damaged so I can't wear it properly and its never been out of the cupboard since I bought it. That or the zelt poles & pegs I own for the zelt tent I don't have.
you can use them with a counts as Polish zelt, you know, if you had some Polish stuff ![]()
