Perfectly acceptable. Have a look at the "Waffen SS basic" pull-down kit guide at the top of the page. It will give you some more pointers on budget German loadouts.
All your suggestions sound good apart from the canvas shoulder bag which I would substitute for a belt slung bread bag instead - good storage space, more authentic and cheaper
Hi Wayne
Have a look at this thread:

I'd also have a look in the 'For Sale' section as there are lots of people selling German kit right now:
The main piece of advice I would give would be to try to purchase some basic, yet decent kit from the get-go. Getting something like Flecktarn is all absolutely fine, but if you catch the WW2 bug and want to take things further and up your accuracy that kit will be useless and you would have wasted money and time.
You can turn up to events in very basic kit, and sometimes borrow; although I appreciate that you may not find anything to fit.
In the first thread there are plenty of links to retailers who supply for all shapes and sizes so have a browse and see what you find.

and I'm pretty sure that AK mags won't fit into MP44 mag pouches. Keep them inside your smock maybe?
as above, i think steve covered it all. dont spent twice mate, buy the best and nearest you can first time, if ww2 dont suit you, you can sell it back on here. if you do like it, you wont bother with flecktarn again.
A helmet would be the best option...

But I'm not sure how much a repro German one would cost you.
Yeah... that is quite a bit. A shame...
Makes my £30 US M1 helmet look like a very good deal indeed.
For the 40-50 quid your belt kit is going to cost you you could probably get a second hand waffen ss smock (i got mine off this forum for a tenner!) and a pair of post war east german wool trousers.
Accurate belt kit will not set the scene as much as a cam smock would.
Normally I'd advise the basic wool uniform first. But if its a budget issue then the smock is a cheap way of getting the look. (alternativley get a dot44 uniform, mine cost me about £50 for jacket and trousers.
Just seems a bit of a waste to buy expensive pouches that you cant actually use yet.

And that are only usable with a very late war gun. You'd always be better off with an MP40.
M43 cap is a good buy. Make sure you get the long billed one rather than the shorter billed mountain troops version. If your head is 61cm I may have one to sell you.

Can recommend the m43 cap, use mine all the time, havent badged it up and its a great hat for keeping your head warm up a mountain.
AK magazines certanly DO fit in mp 44 pouches
an ex member of this forum used to use ak mags as Pouch fillers in his mp 44 pouches
