OK, its clear that some forum users and WW2 airsoft participants are unaware of the huge WW2 community north of the border.

Maybe its our fault. 'Our' being us parochial southerners. But it could well be that those northerners aren't shouting loudly enough.

Now, I know who you are and what you get up to and that some of you are frequent posters on this forum. I also know we have many POW players registered here but don't post.

Here is your chance - tell the world what you get up to and don't hide your light under a bushel. (Do they have bushels in Scotland?)

This is a UK community forum not an England/Wales one - lets hear it guys!

Hullo!! Aye, well, you already know I'm one of yer Northern neighbours, and am trying to build my knowledge of WW2 beyond that which Hollywood and Action Man taught me when I was a lad! Now I tend to waste all my cash on uniforms for me rather than the action man!

Have managed (in about a year and a half-2 years) to build up 3 complete loads, with 2 more getting there. 101st Airborne was the first, then Grossdeuchland, then Das Reich, nearly finished my Brit Para, and just need shirt and trousers for my 101st class A uniform. It has been a great help having the guides etc on this forum, as well as certain members who have supplied me with cracking advice.

I think it's safe to say that I now find it hard to motivate myself to go to any site that ISN'T trying to get the WW2 thang goin' on. I'm hooked. Not quite at the stage where everything has to be 'perfect' but I do try and get it right. Hopefully we'll see you lads bring a CIA event up north, and we can get to see how it's done. ;) We'd ensure you were made to feel welcome and comfy, only THEN would we shoot ya, and not before.

Looking at the site Website looks a great place with lots going on.
What is the theme for this Sundays WWII MilSim?
Are any of the hire guns WWII as I am thinking if any of us fly up to an event we can't bring Airsofts without extreme difficulty.

I've got a fantastical Idea, it's very SISK, and very farby, but why dont we have an England Vs Scotland game, to get everyone chatting and intermingling, I've seen you post all the time Ghost, but have no idea who you play with.

Ramsay, I gotta admit, I have no idea!! Beth is keeping it close to her chest, and we will get to discover our purpose as we go! As for the hire guns, unfortunately they are just AK's for now. Perhaps in the future as more WW2 guns come on the market, and the site continues to build on it's success, who knows? Maybe MP40's and Thompsons as basic hire guns?? Also though, there's usually someone with more than one WW2 gun who might be happy to give you a loaner (as long as you understand the 'you break it you buy it' rule.)

Webby, Scotland Vrs England would be a giggle, but more likely we'd be mixed up, as not all players up here sport multiple loads (yet!!). The only one's I can think of who post on occasion on here that also play at POW are Scoutthedoggie, Murph, McMurdo, Whizbang, Koolance, Fingertwister (the man with the custom Owen Gun) and of course Beth and Ernie (9mmsleepin'pill). There may well be more, but I can't think of them offhand!

I can vouch for Ben Nevis being pretty white at the top in the middle of June once!

Ahem, well, aye, but....we aren't allowed to shoot each other up there!! And lets face it, most airsofters are somewhat....rotund? So basically the game would be 'who dropped dead closest to the top'.

Hahah yeah, the thing which got me was the size of the steps, the treads are about 4-500mm each, so each step is more than say going up the stairs at home, so tiring!

Well Scotland is further north and therefore traditionally cooler, so a bigger layer on "insulation" is welcoming :)

Yep...aye...I was gonna say that. It's cold, so we get a bit 'padded'. Has bugger all to do with deep fried mars bars.

Honest.

I have to admit to being pretty impressed by the numbers you get there. How good is the general standard of WWII kit?

A few of the CiA organizers have expressed reluctance about doing larger scale games. The phrase I heard was "Twice the amount of knobs, ten times the amount of work and half the fun". What are your thoughts?

Standard of kit is good, and getting better, with the odd flash of brilliance (usually from Ernie!!). The main drama with those numbers, is on walk on days about half the players turn up in modern kit. There in lies the 'typical' airsofters, who do tend to have a higher ratio of muppets than the WW2 folk. I would think this is perhaps because those in the WW2 kit are there to play as a team, 'comrades in arms' and all that, they know each other well. A fair few of the modern wearers turn up and 'Rambo' their way through the day. It's only my opinion, but that kind of lone wolf playing style to me means you don't get to know the others as well, and are therefore less likely to care about how good a day they have.

Having said that, there is a few WW2 wearers who need watched like a hawk when they turn up. As you say, bigger numbers, more issues.

Max66:

What more could I want? Well it being 10 mins from my house for a start.. lol! :D

As for getting kit in your size not being possible. It is possible if you're willing spend the mullah. BD can be made to measure. I have two sets like that.

Oh and be warned if you keep going airsofting you might find you lose some weight as several of the members of this site can attest to, myself included. :D

Anyway, any help we can give we will give gladly!

Ghost MacRoth:
I'm sure the mix of players is the same the world over... Just with more WWII at your place and less chav cam. :good:
