Heh, fair point Yith, but I'm pretty sure the expense in getting a decent WW2 load compared to spending 50 quid in an army navy store helps ensure the WW2 lot are just that wee bit more commited to the game.

Yes... but I've met plenty who's attitude to gucci kit isn't reflected in their attitude to playing airsoft nicely.

But yes, there's less in wwii... :)

Max, What Price Glory also sell battledress for the "larger" gentleman. He also does good package deals and delivery is pretty speedy as well. Worth a punt and cheaper (and quicker) than made to measure. You don't even need the BD blouse to do airborne, just trousers. Best bet for your Denison smock is the Rangercamp one sold by Soldier of Fortune.

Made to measure BD.

On the cheap and fall-apart side you have http://www.replicaters.com (use IE not firefox)which have a chequered reputation but do make BD to measure very cheaply.

On the more expensive side you have http://www.pegasusmilitaria.com (use IE not firefox) which make superb BD, but you have to pay a little more than SoF or WPG prices... not massively mind and their stuff is superb.

Other options are:

Dickie Knight: http://www.khaki-on-campaign.co.uk (email him) I have two of his sets and they're very good.
Warhorse http://www.warhorseandreproductionsofhistory.com/ a chequered reputation as far as delivery goes, but their stuff is good.

The main drama with those numbers, is on walk on days about half the players turn up in modern kit.

A friend of mine plays up there, and she said some of the "Old Vs New" games can be a bit odd - Seeing WW2 Brits and Yanks fighting with Germans and Viet Nam players against those with modern kit.

I suppose I should make some comments being one of the site owners and all that. :P

Ernie and I decided to open a site of our own and of course it HAD to be WWII themed. All the building we do on site is targeted towards WWII airsoft (including a V2 rocket, Train Station, Fuel Depot and a Church). A bonus is that our site is for aged 18 and over only. In just over a year, we have grown to over 380 registered players. We started out with 6 players who had WWII kit to now over 50 players with WWII kit and more just now in the process of getting it. We do consider this a major accomplishment, given that WWII airsoft has never been very popular in Scotland.

Our games are a mixture, but the majority of what we run on a normal game day are WWII themed games. We're just doing our 2nd Milsim this coming Sunday which is basically a German offensive game with the Allieds trying to hold as much ground as possible while attempting to accomplish set objectives (for points value). The game involves blowing up a bank for gold, launch the V2 rocket, steal some valuables and this all mixed in with a full-on German advance. French Resistance and Russian WWII players will be involved as well and, of course, I always add some element of evil to the game just to annoy everyone.

We are just about to expand our site from 40+ acres to over 80 acres and have HUGE plans to continue building more playing areas and bases. Ernie and I are very fussy and we won't be happy until the site is the best in Scotland (which is our personal objective).

Ernie has always said it is one of his goals to have players from down South up here for a WWII game.

Be careful what you wish for!

I've heard good things about your site and I've met Ernie at the old Fireball WW2 days. I hope we can get a few of us together at some point to come pay you all a visit. :good:

Heh, that can be a bit confusing!! You're that used to shooting axis or allied, then you are alongside them?? Thankfully it's the one time when being a kit whore helped me out, as I tend to switch sides back and forth week after week!! :happyswing:

Excellent work guys! I used to organise the WW2 days as long ago as 2003...or was that 2004, it's all a haze now. Anyway, that's where I first met Ernie (and later Beth) and a nicer chap (and chapess) you couldn't meet.

Would love to get up there to play sometime, sounds like you're all getting really into it.

We're coming up with a plan for an event in spring/summer next year that would be brilliant for you guys to come along to and well worth the trip. Watch this space!

HS

PS: I remember at Close Action in Corby when Ernie came up to me and said hi, calling me by name. I though "Shit, I can't remember his name", then Beth came to rescue and shouted his name out just in time. No offence meant my man, I'm terrible with names!

Well I'm staying in Scotland with my father in law for a few days at Christmastime (the wife's family are all sweaty socks  ). He's near Coldstream. Is that much of a trek to POW?

I thought there was only one

The proper Coldstream - where the Guards come from. Near the Borders.

 You are not wrong there! Heh, I do remember of course - Headshot's Fireball WW2 day. There is Digga middle back row next to Headshot and young Ade next to Ernie. Those French chaps were a right laugh. I'm sporting the '45 as that was the day my Thompson barrel broke :slap: - hoorah for the Headshot Barrel FIx! That Brit lad on the front row came to our first Bulge game, not sure I have seen him since. I think the chap second from right on back row might be Pork Pie?
Heh, happy days.
