Right, i've pretty much got my Grossdeutschland kit all sorted, bar a couple of bits, and it's got me thinking about what to go for next. It'll certainly be on the allied side, so i'm not sure what to go for.
I quite fancy Sherwood Foresters, it was my Grandfather's unit and so i've got some attachment to it, and it saw service all over Europe.
Another option would be Russian, but there's not much chance of having any comrades until someone brings out a cheap ppsh41 or Mosin!
And then there's Polish Commandos, who again saw action all over, and used assorted allied kit, so wouldn't be too hard to reproduce.
What do people reckon, or any ofther suggestions? Apart from the US, as for some reason, i just can't get into them.

If its passed 9 there is a 95% chance im pissed.

Nah, i've got a full Grossdeutschland outfit now, so i was going for an Allied kit next. I'll probably put together an SS outfit too in the future, but that'll be Hohenstaufen, as i like the idea of coherent units in-game.
I've decided on No. 2 Commando for Wotan for the same reason, there should be about ten of us in matching kit, it just adds a bit to the game.
no idea my grandad was a forester too tho be interesting to see if you go for that
If you are cunning and attach your commando shoulder titles with velcro and the combined arms patch with similar you can remove them after wotan then a new beret and a few new flashes gives you polish commandos .
I'd advise against the woofers as the brit line inf soft cap 'cap general service' or 'cap ridiculous' as it was known is possibly the worlds worst piece of military headwear invented since 1914!
Whereas polish berets, UK berets and cap comforters all look pretty cool.

I have to agree with ehthe coherent units things.
Its definatley where the axis players has the edge in camaraderie.
Arhme was quite good for allied camaraderie but we didnt really foster it ennough
This time though...

Actually uniform invasion regulations post 43 state that battledress should not have any insignia other than rank.
So if you get standard brit line inf kit you can do:
Line inf
commando with a beret change
Airborne wiht a beret and denison
Highland with a tam o shanter
As the trousers, blouse, gaiters, boots and webbing are the same for all of the above and many other units.
Only the headgear changes in most cases.
Their were 'airborne' and 'commando' trousers but not enough were manufactured to even vaguely meet demand.
I know that only 1 man in five in the airborne formations recieved 'para trousers'.
Good thing about brit kit is that once you have the basics its very easy to do another loadout

yeah, and fortunately it's fairly cheap too!
I'd advise against the woofers Sherwood Foresters.
They wouldn't have been known as Woofers back then, as its a nick name post 1970 amalgamation with the Worcester Regt.

Fair play but its still the worlds worst military headgear, to the point that any officer worth his salt swapped it for a khaki beret even if they were not allowed to...
I nearly got into a fight in the Naafi in catterick for calling some lads from your lot 'woofers' in conversation
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
I think we've had this conversation but do yo know Captain Spears, may well have been a 2lt when you were in?
He was my platoon commander on a catterick course, good bloke
