Three days ago I washed and cleaned the mud from my WPG ammo boots (which remained bone dry inside despite ending up to my knees in water several times and not wearing gators).
Having dried out fully, yesterday I soaked the uppers inside and out with leather oil.
Today I wiped off the little that hadn't been absorbed and gave uppers and soles a good seeing-to with the dubbin, scrubbing it into seams.
Tomorrow it will be a light buffing, stuff with newspaper and pack away. Oh, the laces have been oiled too...

Heh, I like to make a meal of boot care Andy!

I looked at my boots and decided ''they will do'' until I get a pair of nice jump boots :)

Today I fitted Deans connectors to my MP40, Sten and MP5 and all the small batteries I own. Tomorrow I may do the large battery guns.

I also put the first coat of paint on the M48 helmet I'm changing into a look-a-like US WW2 M1.

Dean must have a lot of connecters - hope you asked him first!

(Question though - why? Does it mean you can't borrow or lend batteries in an emergency now?)

I will probably make an emergency conversion cable up. But I've never had to borrow a battery in an emergency before so why should I suddenly start now?

To be honest I've been getting crap connections with the rubbish Tamiya connectors for some time... these Deans connectors seem far far superior.

A guy at Elite Action was banging on about changing all his guns to Deans connectors. Apparently it's all the rage.

Neither have I, but I've lent out plenty though...

Heh, just curious why that's all - the Deans don't seem to have a locking mechanism...

Deans is the way to go. I've started swapping all my shooters and battery packs to them. MUCH larger contact area than a large Tamiya in a connector thats physically smaller in volume than a small Tamiya (or is it Kyosho?) Never had one come apart on me, a locking mech is unnecessary.

Other than that, Today I am mostly feeling guilty, and very hungover.

Yeah... they're a very tight fit, don't come off at all.

I just finished changing connectors on all my large batteries and the guns that go with 'em. Next is the stick batteries, if they still work. Not used those batts for about 2 to 3 years now.

Interestingly this now means complete connector compatibility throughout my guns, which means for instance I now have 5 batteries that will fit my Thompson, etc. :)

Oh... and it was your article in AI that prompted me to do this Jay. Been meaning to do it for ages, but that gave me the push. I was also looking at getting the Mosfets sorted as well, but they seem a little expensive from RS when you've added in shipping. RS seem to prefer commercial rather than private purchases...

I'm just used to RS, as I use 'em all the time at work. Plus, due to the deal we have with them, we get a nice little discount added for personal purchase :)

Just a pity that their delivery charges sting a bit

Then again, not sure if CPC/Farnell do the MOSFET's I use, but there are a number of alternative FET's that will do the job just as well. I just went for the ones that could handle *silly* levels of power. Probably because the bench supply I have here can supply up to 30vDC @ up to 50 AMPS mwhahahahahahah (yes, that fecker has fried a few things......)

I figured that would be the case... I used to work for a company that pretty much got all their components from RS. The RS catalogue was like a bible there. Unfortunately I don't any more and the most convenient place to get components from is now Maplin... heh.

However I know bob all about mosfets (I was shite at that stuff at university) and hence may need help choosing a suitable alternative.

Repainted both my M38 & m42 helmets. Only the base coat so far though; I had to chip off the rubbish SOF flaky paint from the 38 which took ages.

Same here. Also, finished a week of nights where I had someone hang himself, several cases of serious self harm, 3 overdoses, 2 fights and a fully kitted up planned removal! Merry Christmas everyone!

Today I woke up at 7:15 to the wailing of the home security system.
Odd I thought, I didn't turn it on last night.
So I started looking for my cellphone so I could call the security company so they don't despatch a car or the police.
FAWK! Left it at my parents...okay, nothing left to do but to wait for them to show up.
Put the kettle on and checked the alarm console in the mean time. "Alarm in Garage" hmmm
So I went out into the garage (PJs-Bathrobe). Nothing out of the ordinary.
15 minutes go by.
Dad shows up on his bicycle. Security called him after they couldn't reach me.
He tells me they told him there had been a sabotage attempt.
He calls them back to call in the okay.
7:35, I'm wide awake after 4 hours sleep. Can't leave home today because repair man is coming to check
the unit in the garage. He better be here before noon!

:(

I'm guessing the frosty weather has killed the battery of the remote IR-unit in the garage

Repair guy came round, checked the system, replaced the batteries in the IR-sensor in the garage.
Guy leaves. I stick around for 30 minutes, then go to the camera store to drop off some film.
On the way I get a call from the security company. Alarms going off again (eventhough I didn't turn it on) :x
Return home, turn off alarm.
Call repair guy. He tells me through the phone how to disconnect the faulty unit from the system.
Monday they'll call to see about replacing the IR sensor :(
