i dont have any problem with the police( they do a difficult job with one hand tied behind there backs) i do however have a mahooosive problem with the police force being run as a business. get coppers stopping scumbags not doing the rancid governments stealth tax dirty work. having said that, take it on the chin heidie, you were speeding.it hurts i know, ( road tax/broken down van fiasco.... better part of 600 quid i didnt have) better luck next time mate. oh,,,, today i "found "a load of .303 war heads fired at a local range during the war.

Funny, I would not consider myself clueless.

No offence meant. You have to admit that a lot of new, younger coppers seem to want to tear the arse out of all situations and show how hard they are when they have 6 or 7 mates with them.

Scaley, I too try to do my job with an arm tied behind my back (usually both of them!) but get zero recognition from anyone because what I do goes on behind closed doors, dealing with the worst of the worst, the ones who actually get convicted and sent down. I take a ton of s**t day in, day out, with the by product of the work of the police.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

heidie mate, you and i are both former soldiers. i dont think anyone ever thanked me for doing that job . you and i dont do jobs like soldiering , police force, prison service ETC for the thanks and recognition. we do it becouse we think that even in a small way we might just make a difference when it counts. basicly we care about the bigger picture. your average joe has massive tunnel vision, never seen the big picture. thanks to people like you, we all have the freedom to call the police wankers without fear of a knock on the door in the night. you got fined by the cops, i didnt even have that curtesy, i got fined by small minded robot burocracy. rule brittania .

It's funny. For me, a "Bad Day" is maybe defined by a client being a bit rude on the phone and my 3-year-old getting mud on the carpet :D If a wannabe tough guy threatened to shoot me I'd be upset for a week.

On another note, a Brit friend of mine who lives in San Francisco was recently pinged for jumping a red light. In California this is just one step below drunk driving in terms of seriousness. The fine is a few hundred dollars but the real fine is the effect on your insurance premium, which is a few thousand dollars. He had the option of taking a Traffic School course to avoid the points (and insurance hike). He said that in retrospect he'd rather have paid the money, as spending ten Saturday mornings with the dregs of the earth, talking about how they were "With ma bitch doin' sevenny on Van Ness when the muthafukin cops pulled me...SHHEEItt man!!" was like a little piece of hell on earth.

Today I.... woke up laughing after going to a dinner party last night. The mix of people wasn't quite right and the party was starting to flag. In order to inject something into the conversation the hostess, looking at her cat who was scratching its ear with its back leg, said "Oh, look at Bobby. I wish I could do that". Unfortunately by the time everyone had turned to look Bobby was licking his arse.

today i sent back an item bought from SOF, with a nice letter explaining my concerns about what they sold me. Bought a field Manual that you cant even read as the words are badly disfigured.

Today I ... lost the use of my legs.

There I was sat on the bog of a morn (as is my wont, being a 'regular' sort of chap) engrossed in issue 5 of 'The War' (24th November 1939). Fantastic accounts of the diminishing power of the U Boats and the defects of German tanks and how von Ribbentrop was described as "cold pale forehead, cold, pale cheek and a cold, pale eye" and how the British Tommies are making themselves at home in France.

Realising I had work to go to I stood up only to crash into the door in absolute agony - searing pins and needles! I wondered how many kids in 1939 had suffered the same fate as me as they followed the ins and outs of the war's progress in the press. Gripping stuff!

Neill kindly asked me to 'star' in his vid. No idea why he asked me but I am flattered (and cheap).

Hope you didn't have too many continuity problems in the edit with the dribbling mate, I did my best!

I made a caring for dementia video once - lots of stuff about using pictures and avoiding confusing phrases like "Why don't you hop in the shower"?
