I was sent this in a bag of K98 stripper clips I received a week or so ago. Neither the seller nor I have any idea what it is.

It kind of looks like some sort of belt hanger thing...

It is made from black leather with a D-ring on it and has the following stamped on it.

J.W.
S.

Can anyone help?-- attachment is not available --

Just looks like a standard german belt loop to me. Used to attach equipment and Y-straps to the belt.

It looks German, like these:

they can be used if you want to put a German waterbottle onto your webbing without a breadbag or say to wear Y straps without ammo pouches,

I wondered if that was what it was... Sounds about right to me.

It looks as though it could be original. Certainly its more substantial than that epic repro.

It's also something that lets you attach a y-strap to a belt with nothing "in-between" (like a mag pouch). For example a Fallschirm Jaeger loadout typically has a sixer MP40 mag on one side and a belt mounted holster on the other - so you'd need one of these to fix the other strap.

Okies... its yours. The PBI training day seems to be the most appropriate time to hand it over. I'll stick it in with the other bits I have for you.
