Operation Nordlicht is soon to commence, the humble farm boys that make up our squads know a big push is coming soon but not when or the details of it. Such important information would only be divulged beforehand to officers to assist in their preparation.
You know that a battery of artillery from the 24th Infantry Division have been moved near The Sinyavino Heights together with some of their Landsers to guard the battery.
You know that our own 3rd Gebirgsjager Division have moved a battery of mountain howitzers to the area. Your military experience probably leads you to the conclusion that the artillery will be fired from the heights in support of the offensive.
You have heard rumours about the dank primaeval forest in front of the heights, patrols are regularly ambushed and often destroyed by the red swine that occupy the forest.
Perhaps you hope that your squad will only have to guard the artillery, you probably hope you do not have to go to deep into that dismal forest.
However you are certain that the training you have had will stand you in good stead and that when the officers brief you and give you your orders you will be able to carry them out efficiently and with all the élan of a Jager!
