Thinking about each side and what they wear...

I'm a bit dubious about putting civilians into the scenario as such. Its rather hard to have a meaningful cooperation between civilians and armed forces - once the farmer has captured an enemy then officialdom immediately take over and civilians are out of the picture.

However, no reason why the farm labourer can't be in civies AND be in the Home Guard.

Therefore I propose uniform requirements thus:

British
Home Guard - BD or civies with HG armband (£6 from SoF)
Army - BD (kilt OK)

German
Fallschirmjaeger (Lufty blue and/or jump smock)
SS (field grey wools, camo smocks OK - Heer uniform OK if nothing else available, esp if covered with smock)

As for weaponry, if we ask British for bolt action as first preference, SMG if no other option. Shot guns OK for HG. Vickers MG (or similar) OK - Germans for bolt action as first preference, SMG if no other option, MGs OK.

Looks good. Are we going for SS paratroops? Or are the Germans a gliderborne assault group?

I'm not sure there were SS paratroops this early? If there were they would be wearing FJ smocks and helmets anyway. So good point, the SS can be gliderbourne and just wear regular kit (even though, guessing here, they would probably wear the para's kit for practicality just like the Brit gliderbourne did. But meh, for game purposes to make both factions distinct then we can say they removed jump gear  )

Was it Home Guard by that stage of the war, or still LDV? Either way, all units started with a simple armband!

All the contemporary report talk of the Home Guard. Perhaps some still hadn't been issued with uniforms in the Glasgow area? Or are out in the fields with an armband in their pocket, should an emergency arise?
The immediate local army unit to the crash were Royal Signals observers.

I have, if it will fit your height.

And on that point - Jay, did you have a Lufty uniform for sale a while back?

The glider thing would be cool anyway. Hitler was quite taken with the idea of glider assualts, after the success of the one on the "impregnable" French fort, which was, apparently, his idea. Makes sense for elite SS troops to be delivered into battle that way, if there were no "proper" SS paratroops and it also lets them get away with the Waffen SS camo smocks, etc, as part of the story.

Thinking about weapons, I reckon the Germans would be armed to the teeth with MP40's and MG's myself and the Brit's, if not regular army troops, would be lucky to have even bolt actions.

I suppose you are right about the smg's but it wouldn't be a fair battle! The Army and HG bods would only have rifles (possibly the HG might have a BAR or Vickers knocking about) and the farmers just shotguns or hunting rifles.

So, I guess it comes down to establishing it as an early war rifles sort of scenario, or not? Or we could get round it by severely limiting jerry's ammo. No chance or resupply after all!

I like the idea of "run out of ammo and you're f**ked!" for the Germans, who could have a huge firepower advantage to begin with but then, really be in the shit later on, as they are pursued by the Brit's.
