Given the choice between wool M43 field trousers, wool M40 Fallschirmjager trousers or Heer assault gunner field wool trousers, which would be the most generic??
I want to do a Heer late war load out, but would also like the trousers to double up when I do a FJ loadout in the future.. Looking at some of the Asian sites that show several photos of each one and they all look very simmilar with only a few differences which would be hidden/covered by a tunic, smock or Jump smock and gaiters..
In my limited experience I'm leaning towards the assault gunner field trousers as they seem to have the most Generic cut to them..
As always any input greatly appreciated..
Regards Chris.

I would personally stick to the M43 trousers. They fit perfectly with a late war infantry impression and they are ok for FJ as late war many would have had to use them due to shortages. The likely hood of it happening the other way around are slim. As for the assault gunner trousers, you may see a few grenadiers using them but equally you'd see alot of assault gun/halftrack crews in M43s late war.
If you want a really generic/plain cut then you can go wrong with M37/M40 trousers although they're not as well suited to wearing with gaiters.
Thanks Lard ass, ( I still can't get used to writing that without feeling I'm about to get thumped!)
I'm just in the process of sourcing some M37/M40 trousers, so this really is just a late war generic pair and I would be wearing them with gaiters..

M43 trews can be used with almost any German combat portrayal. FJ trousers can only really be used with FJ. Meh, you'll end up getting both anyway...
If you're getting M37/M40 trousers as well you might as well go for the jump trousers for your FJ impression and use the M37s for all your Heer stuff. They are fine for the whole war after all. Oh and I promise I won't thump you.
Thanks guys..
