Hey guys,
I'm slowly but surely getting a Heer Infantry kit togeather having order an M42 Tunic and HBT trouser. With luck I'll order the webbing soon.
Now for this kit I'm planning on getting getting a helmet, now having read the kit guide on helmets I don't want to get it wrong first time. Now I've a size 57cm head but with my hair tied back 57 hats get tight and uncomftable so I'd want a 58cm. Could anyone tell me what I'd need/ where to buy??
Thanks
JD
I had a similar problem recently when I bought my helmet.... All the books and guides say original helmets that had a size 56/57 liner fit a 64cm shell size and a 58/59cm liner fits a 66cm shell... However most of the repro's I came across were either a 64cm shell (56/57) or 68cm or even a 70cm shell with a liner to make it smaller.. no one seems to make a reasonably priced 66cm shell..
I have a head a fraction under 58 so was worried a 64cm shell (56/57 liner) would be to small and all of the other repro's on the market ie to fit 58cm to 62 cm head size way to big... In the end I opted for the Epic militaria M40 helmet.. after speaking to them they said their 64 cm shell helmet has a 57/58cm liner specially made for them in Germany.. After a bit of adjustment of the liner string which dictates how high on your head it sits, it's now a perfect fit, and am very pleased with the quality and finish...
Hope this helps, and of coarse it was only my experience.. however having spoken to Julian at Epic on several occasions now, I am sure if you had any problems with sizing he would be very accomadating... Which isn't always the case with suppliers from the far east..
Regards Chris..

Underwood sells refurbished WW2 shells with top notch repro liners. They aren't the cheapest but they are bloody good. Best bet is to meet him at a show and try both sizes on.
