I'll be heading down from Lincolnshire, probably via Northampton & Oxford (A43/A34) to avoid the M25 if anyone on route would like a lift.

Make sure you avoid the M1 between London and Northampton. It's the devil's arsepipe

Especially just north of Luton (up to Milton Keynes)
J11 to J14 is truly the M1 Section of Doom.
