“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942
"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
Joseph Stalin, November 1942
love it
I think the correct neame for B is Berta not Bruno in the phoenitic alphabet
That is what I have made up for the defence bunker signs
Apologies if you are correct, Gordon. I was going on how they used to name turrets on a capital ship - Anton, Bruno, Caesar, Dora.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Bertha or Bruno are both correct I believe, certainly according to the Axis History web site anyway!
I think Stu is correct that Anton may be a little harder to defend but it will be easier to build up good cover. I think we will have the heavy MG42 on field lafette with periscope optic to cover the main approach road to Anton so the riflemen can focus on covering the flanks.
When 3rd gruppe fall back to the frontline, they can help re-enforce Anton should it need it.
