What time of the year are you most likely able or wish to attend a game?

Again, this may help organisers plan their events.

To keep things simple, prioritise your best 3 options. The poll only allows for 10 options so I've excluded December and January as these seem the least feasible due to weather, finances etc. Thanks

 three people voted and not one common month among them!

I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.

it is a bit odd to poll really. If I am not busy, the game sounds interresting and fits with the time of year (If I am doing an in-game overnighter then I want it in summer, not naffy 'orrible cold) then yes, in any month of the year.

Which month am I 'less likely to be free'? I dunno really. We always put this before other hobbies so it is as likely any month.

Just trying to see if among the group, there were better times to aim for. Ie avoiding school holidays, when finances are tight etc. :good:

I think july and August are awkward for a lot people, Also try to avoid some of the big reenactment weekends that a lot of people like to go to.

I concur - and most are in July and August!

I would also go any time of the year but June/July/august tend to be my holidays due to children. Dec only works first weekend of the month if at all and Jan only last two weekends. I think fireball had one on in Jan.

Could be an argument for discouraging games in July and August altogether. Inability to attend those dates seems to be a recurring theme.

Well games have been run in these months before ok, just more of a risk.

Perhaps site run games in July and August, seeing as they're more likely to go ahead?

I wouldn't rule out December or January, some of the best games I've been to have been then.

The real problem months are summer, particularly July/August, 'summer holiday' and re-enactment event time.

My favourite game months are May and September as it isn't too hot and the weather often isn't too appalling.

Cheers

I'd agree 100% with January - especially if you've just had a fortnight of family duties etc and January is always such a dead month.

No real preferences from me, though Spring and Autumn if you held a gun to me head!

I put May/June/September.

For me, if you're going to do a fully immersive extended gameplay event it's sensible to have longer daylight hours and at least a guarantee that your players aren't going to die of hypothermia. This is especially important if you're going down the more 'hardcore' (for want of a better word) sleep-in-a-ditch E&E type game.

If you're going to do a winter version of these, you'll need a fixed site for sleeping and the ability to ship kit in before the off.

Summer is better (as Headshot points out, more daylight hours to do stuff).
July and August are the summer holiday months, but the best months to put on an event for ours of daylight. Plenty of warning time perhaps?
I haven't bothered to vote as any time of the year suits me, but alternate weekends I have my Boy and I can't make it. It alarms me how many games/events manage to be the wrong weekend for me. Are you doing it deliberately?
