Firstly an extensive selection of photos of the Polish 2nd Corps from the Sikorski Museum.

A video featuring clips of the Polish 2nd Corps at Monte Cassino - set to a somewhat jollier version of 'Red Poppy Flowers on Monte Cassino'.

Hi,

i was actually given my friends uncles uniform - with all insignia (including Monte Cassino). would you be able to identify what corps/regiment he was in - my Polish is rubbish! Sadly he was only a little bloke so it won't fit me and i wouldn't want to use it. i can send pictures if needed.

Cheers

Simon

Well I finally found after much internet searching what he was in -5th Kresowa Infantry Division (5. Kresowa Dywizja Piechoty) -the uniform has a badge with what looks like a bull or a bison. I'd like to attach a picture of it - how do I do that?

You're right about needing him Yith. If anyone knows of a tame, trained bear we can use please let me know.

In my trawling I found a nice picture of some 2nd corps in Italy that is not quite so 'small and zoomed out'.

Came from the memoir and genealogy site of a Polish Australian who was part of Anders' army that left the Soviet Union, before travelling to Britain. It is a rather fascinating insight into the Polish experience that is personally, yet often wryly, told. Plus it has lots of pictures and scans.

If anyone wants to peruse parts 6 and 7 deal with the war.
