Ah yes, re-read OP. Well, a bit of a problem - you wouldn't qualify for a reenactor's exemption and nor for an airsofter's defence. So, two-tone guns only for you (and it is very dodgy to remove two-toning by the way, as it is there for a reason). As already said, you need to build an airsofter's defence - attend a few games at your local proper airsoft club. In the meantime, you will find players happy to lend for a game and with the November game you can hire guns anyway. You can also borrow free uniforms at the November game, so that is two problems solved.

We can get loan uniforms for Nordlicht too (see the thread on game uniform requirements), just need to sort it in advance. We could do with more Russians, so that might be an option.

Frankly I regard any WW2 game less than 2 hours drive away as on my doorstep. There are so few of them, that you need to be willing to travel.

Martin

One of the most important bits of advice going and anyone new to this should really think hard about it.

Getting kit together is a financial commitment. It isn't cheap. Unless you have a willingness to travel to get to games (as Martin said a two hour drive is generally an average distance), you're essentially spending money to let it gather dust in your wardrobe.

Here is where I think UkARA and the vcra act falls on it's face a bit.

I can go buy a .177 bb co2 1911 with out having a defence but if I try to get the same in 6mm and I have to jump through hoops or have it look ridiculous, also I can remove the paint or spray black quite legally a 2 tone as it's not illegal.

I can't help thinking that until you have a valid VCRA defence removing the two-tone would probably be illegal. The law after all is there to stop the general public having RIFs. I think converting an IF to an RIF is included in the act.

I don't think anyone thinks that much of the logicality, but that is by the by. More pertinent is that buying a RIF without a defence doesn't put the buyer at risk of prosecution but converting an IF into an RIF (manufacturing - removing two-tone) may well do so. I'm not aware if it has been tested in the courts yet, perhaps with an open admission we might well see it! Anyway, we have been going over this for years now - your options are to borrow or rent for an event until you have proved a defence. No more on this matter please.

Agreed, I will try to get to Copenhagen even if it's to have a look at what it's about, I have joined up with first and only on their bronze membership as they are very local to me and there is also MAW too which got me thinking as it's run on an old RAF base, Wouldn't it be of some use to you guys?

Yes, good plan, you will have a good time a F&O. Try and avoid CQB to start with - if I had started with that I'd never have thought this was a hobby worth pursuing. MAW is an interesting site, WW2 game was run there in 2012: viewforum.php?f=195

Well It can only be fun along the way can't it and I'm going to my first game in a few years with club and work mates on 27th so I may only spectate Copenhagen if possible.
I'm pretty sure I will be selling my m4 to a UkARA registered player as I really do like this ww2 kit

I got round to testing my thompson today with .25gr bb's and it's doing 260fps +-5fps, I checked my chrono against my target airguns that I know the test velocities of and the chrono is functioning fine so it may seem that king arms is possibly fitting a more suitable spring or I'm just lucky... Who knows?!

Just like to add a big thanks for all the advice received so far and I may see you at Copenhagen!

Andy
