How about IED next year
http://www.iedoutdoor.co.uk/SiteInfo.html
Tank, AT-gun, Jeep & maybe Dingo or other vehicles.
This could be something I could get the MVT in on in a small way if enough people would come to finance it.

Or how about a Tunisian battle, perhaps Longstop Hill (Christmas Hill) here [link]http://www.lincolnshireairsoftclub.co.uk/sites-2/kirton-site-1/[/link]
The battle involved both yank and brit (KD's and shorts )
Germans could be regular heer, DAK or FJ in tropical. Quite a few people with DAK or Ramke kit that would love the chance to use it

Porta where is you quarry video?
I do love classic movie themed games

Apart from the containers it certainly looks suitable, what is the location?
My initial thoughts on a Tunisian game were to avoid the obvious Kassereine connotations but on 2nd thoughts that would provide a much wider kit spectrum and perhaps generate more interest?
Think it is Rochdale way, Porta wanted me to take the tank but the tracks would get eaten up on the stones.
I do intend to find stronger tracks some time also have the dingo to make.
I was in a battle re-enactment today with a Halftrack, Kubelwagon, 3 jeeps and a Dodge weapons carrier my anti-tank gun provided some nice audio and they seemed to like it.
I spoke to some of them about what we do and I think I can turn a few.

If we did Play Dirtier we could change the story how we want and bring in some US and Brits as no one will have Italian uniforms will they.
Maybe the containers could be camo netted and made to look like the oil depot have you got any oil drums yet Porta, also how are the tanks coming on?
Free speech is expensive these days!
ive got 45 steel drums , all 50 gallon ones and a cam net that covers them ,
see here
only problem with the quarry is the cost mate.
its 1500 quid PER DAY for the exclusive use of full 150 acres
or i can get it for 24 hours friday / saturday or saturday / sunday ............. 1700 till 1700 on a seperate 30 acre plot for 500 quid
may be a bit steep , unless you can get 30 players it is an amazing site , and like aq desert in the sun, and like mountains in the rain

forgot to mention, between the hours of 1700 and 0700 you can use the full site
foe example at fallout recently, i rented the site from
1700 saturday until 1700 sunday
i use the 150 acre site from 1700 untill 0700
then move to the 30 acre site from 0700 untill endex.
that cost me 650 quid with the landlord
its all dependant on numbers mate ,
if you get 40 players , its £16.25 a head
30 players £21.60 a head
20 players £32.50 a head
so you need to accuratly work out how many you can get to attend
i also used the 30 acre bit from 0700 untill 1700 for 500 quid
if you can get 30 players to that its 16.60 each
It can be doable, but you have to get people to pay up front , i didnt on a recent milsim i ran , and ended up making a £400 quid loss due to 40% no shows

also forgot the insurance, gunman North west (me personally) is insured though Gunman down in norwich
it costs me a flat rate of 10% of the event cost, (gos to gunman not me) you would need to fatcor this into the event mate. I also have to be on site for the duration of the event , which i dont mind doing for free, as its a ww2

If we did Kassereine it would be:
Axis
21.Panzer - DAK uniforms
5th Bersaglieri Regiment - If anyone has a helmet with feathers in it or were up for the challenge
10.Panzer - Feild grey
Ramke parachute Brigade - not actually at the battle but in Tunisia and LW tropicals look the part.
Allied
British 6th Armoured Division
US 26th & 34th Infantry Regiments
US 1st Armoured Division
Various French Troops
So plenty of scope for most impressions except Airbourne and SS (Can go Feild grey with insignia removed/covered).
It all depends on how many we think we can get for it?
Ive sent a Query to Kirton regarding site costs, but I think GNW is do-able.
The oil drums would certainly come in handy, capturing fuel was part of Rommels plan
but you have to get people to pay up front , i didnt on a recent milsim i ran , and ended up making a £400 quid loss due to 40% no shows
To be honest I think from my experience with MLD thats the best way to go anyway. I know Nigel has his booking system the way it is to help people out but folks take the piss and untill the morning of both days we did not know what numbers we would have. I say whatever game we go for limit the numbers to encourage people who are thinking of coming to book on ASAP and untill people pay they dont go on the list
Porta, I assume camping is available?
It's normal to expect money up front before they go.
For Taffys game the money was straight to him so not out of our pocket, the game was going to happen some how no matter how un-balanced the sides were so I didn't worry so much as I did for Anarchy were I had to raise £1500 before we ran the game.
It was close probably within £50 + or - of £1500.
For Dirty Dozen it was similar to Taffy we just had to pay for each person that came on the day.
With the LT system we can balance the lives so things will work.
Pride with the last game it was good to have names on the list as it gave people confidence that people wanted to go. If you don't have any names up there it can end up like how some of the recent CIA events have gone, people wait for each other to say they will go then no names get on the list and it has to be cancelled due to lack of interest.
This is why when I post the recruiting thread I put down who is going then change their name in red to signify they have paid.
I feel it is better to have a load of names of people who are interested right from the start when the event is first listed and their blood is pumping and they all want to go.
If we can get them to pay straight away it is ok but if you only have 5 people show interest after 2 months then there is a good chance of an event cancellation.
So far we have been lucky and not had to cancel any, this isn't pure luck though is it? It is because we have put a lot of work in to get people interested hook them in and keep them.
For Dirty Dozen the game was too fecking popular from the start, I think it was due to how well Anarchy went. However when the booking didn't look fair and I changed it everyone moaned apart from those that it suited who then stayed quiet and never backed up my decision.
For the next event I feel it will be popular due in a big part to how fecking well Monty has just gone, we have won some respect with that one.
If we used GNW then my jeep won't be there neither will I be able to get many form my area over, I was hoping to get a few MVT guys interested from this area for next year.
A shame that site is so expensive Porta, so it is £1500 for a Sunday?
Free speech is expensive these days!
Sure Nigel I know what your saying, names on the list encourages others to book on. But some book on I think with little commitment to go perhaps we should have asked for the money sooner, but as you say with the money going to Taff it was a differant set up, still plenty of time to sort that side out.
By the way I hope I havent stepped on your toes by suggesting Tunisia, just an idea and happy to go with Ardennes if thats what you fancy. (Although Josh is running an Ardennes next year )
For the next event I feel it will be popular due in a big part to how fecking well Monty has just gone, we have won some respect with that one.
I hope so mate, it will justify the hard work we put in I had a lot of great feedback after the game, being my first helping to organise I had visions before of everything going Tits up but overall was very pleased how it went
