My favourite moment at a pinch would have to be hearing a ruckus behind me, turning round and seeing Sgt Wladek with his hands in the air whilst Chomley's pointing the Sgt's own weapon against him. Followed swiftly by Americans from all sides (including myself) closing in on Chomley, all yelling at him to put the gun down. Classic

Which time was that, 1st, 2nd or 3rd time? haha

Had a superb time, thanks to all the Combat South team for putting on a great event! Had a blinder!

Was nice to see so many new faces too, putting faces to forum names never gets old!

Yet another game where resistance played a key role, I seldomly shot at a German all day, which made it interesting, since I was 2nd Squad's point man for most of the day! It certainly made me *very* wary, I lost my temper a number of times in building number 5 with lardy and Chomley, a round was even shot at the ceiling for general trying to escapeness!

During an escape attempt I tripped over one of the metal rungs, and suddenly had 4 partisans sat on my back, I'd successfully wedged chomley into the door frame, but had several now unconcealed pistols shuvved in my back.... in lots of pain and humiliated in one instant! :lolpanda:

Classic gameplay,... of which has been sorely missed since Saint Lo! Was nice to come across the Wasps where i did actually shoot my gun at a german, but got shot and blown up for my troubles, only for half of them to get blown up too by a lucky frag... nice to sit down and shoot the crap with ya'll! :)

Will be uploading the photos and vids from my camera later on that Carly took!

I think that game has to my highlight of the day, watching Chommely winding up the increasingly irate US guards was entertaining enough by itself without the fact we had to escape before being shot. Our eventual escape attempt was quite successful, thanks to Webbys' mishap, for everyone but me that is. :slap:

Favourite moment? Well, shotting two Huns to prove to the Yanks I was a Friendly then trashing their base was cool.

As was taking on Neil? whilst he fired a long burst of air from the MP44, shouting 'How are you not dead?' at me... The voice from my wounded comrade saying 'Because your firing any BBs, Dad' was classic.

Main thrill was the real tension of lying in the grass whilst the world's chattiest Yanks 'searched' the area.

Top, top day!

Great day superbly set up & executed by the organisers, great little details like the posters...(if only they hadnt been so well posted up!)

Memorable moments: Heading a grenade that was about to land right on top of me with my helmet..being shot in the stomach by a treachourous partisan after relieving him of his weapon (as i thought)...shooting Chommers in the ankles after he wouldnt give up Wladeks weapon...

Come to think of it, the whole day was great - excellent gameplay from all, good to put some more faces to names & catch up with those i already knew...awesome nosh at lunchtime (worth the price of admission alone!)

And i got plenty of rest whilst gazing up at the clouds calling for medics...

Did I mention it was great?!

Lol Chomley didn't give us any trouble, well he did but just didn't get away with it. If only we'd had more musette bag straps.....

We had a good time too, thanks to all involved in putting it on.

Best bit was the mortar attack across the open field, and the in-character acting* from all, Steiner's American Captain was superb and the partisans too. My own attempted southern drawl (no Chomley it wasn't meant to be Pakistani) kind of slipped by early afternoon.

* Note - term used advisedly.

EDIT - Yep the food was the best yet.

A few pics from the Saturday night social :)

“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

It's great to read such positive feedback. Thanks chaps.

Best moment for me (apart from seeing lots of smiling faces at endex) was after watching the Americans decimate the Germans with their field mortar, then figuring out an incredibly ingenious way to move a 10 pound lump of plutonium, only to lose 3 men as Ranj accidentally stepped on a schu-mine, thus proving that Neil and Ian's creations did tthe job they were designed to :good:

That was prettty much my best moment of the day, too. :)

I had an excellent time with the mortar and, despite a disatrous weapon failure later on, an excellent day all round. Well done to all the organisers. :good:

I think the partisans deserve some credit for that too as there was 5 of us in amongst the Germans causing havoc. Myself and Gavin literally wandering up behind them unseen; I was armed with little more than a bottle of wine so Gav gave me his spare pistol. We opened up on the Germans, taking a out a few, rescued the professor (who then ran off) and 3 fellow partisans. I decided to vacate the area due to nearly being hit by the US mortar, leaving the 3 resued partisans to pick off the remaining Germans and was shot at by some Americans who were surpised to see partisans coming from where the Germans were meant to be. We partisans then regrouped before retrieving the uncooperative professor from his hiding place and returning him to the Americans. All in all a good days work I'd say.

Definitely true Lardy, the mortar only took out a couple of guys but we were so focused on the head-on fight with the Americans that we left our rear completely unguarded and got royaly shafted by the Partisans :slap: by the time we twigged we were being attacked in the rear, it was too late and our fate was sealed  The entire SS squad was sat there calling "SANI" :giggle:

That was just after Neil Blumes hilarious dry-firing incident which was mentioned in an earlier post, priceless

hehe, who wraps a bowling ball in clingfilm!? I mean really?!!! Was actually suprisingly difficult to manouver the plutonium core around as it was spherical, tended to roll about a bit! Carly has a funny vid of Simon and I with it in the sheep-skin, and it drops out, whittingly Carly commentates with "BANG"
