The cheap alternative is belt hooks!

Although you're right, the cheap alternative isnt always the best, and I can fully appreciate the design of the Y strap loadout. I'm happy to admit to being a regular loud and proud airsofter of the usual "frowned upon oik" which is part of the reason I find this completely different side of airsoft so interesting, as it's so much different from anything I've done before.
I've been airsofter for 4 years now and it's all gone a bit stale. because I'm considered an old fart at 42, and I'll admit to not being able to keep up with the youngsters, I tend to marshal more than play, more often than not, the regs at my site need a gentle persuasion in the ethics of airsoft, whch is where I come in.
All this attention to detail, or as close to as my budget allows, is a new challenge for me and makes me even more excited about my first WW2 game.

Jim, I've got Y-straps and belt hooks - one of my tunics is very good with belt hooks - the belt sits nicely, and you'll be surprised at how effective they are. My other tunic is obviously not so well-designed - the rear belt hook holes are far too high, and it doesn't really work at all. As regards authenticity, I'm not sure when Y-straps became widespread issue? Mid-war, I believe.
However, I'd recommend http://www.militaria-net for both items. You'll need either 2 or 4 hooks, depending on your tunic design - at £1.50 each, you can't complain.
....oh, and 42 is a very good age!
Don't forget, soldiers as old as 60 fought for the Wehrmacht!

Hang on! (x) of you, (y) of me, dont mind playing Airsoft, I make that Pimms O’clock
ARGH! Disaster is looming.... to cut a long story short, if anybody's got a Heer 4-pocket splinter tunic or a feldgrau Heer officer's tunic that they could lend me, please let me know.
A friend on the forum has been trying to get a splinter tunic for me to complete my Hauptmann's loadout for months now, and his suppliers keep letting him down. The latest one was supposed to arrive a few days ago, and I just get this feeling that it isn't going to get here in time for Haggard. ![]()

Does anybody have a spare zeltbahn or poncho to lend? My mate Dinzy is coming and has even less period kit than I do! If not he'll be the one in an Alpenflage flashers mac ![]()

I'll be bringing pretty much all my kit, most of it to lend out. We'll sort it out between us all. ![]()

I know what you mean about the kit thing taking its toll on your wallet, you just want to get it all together as quickly as possible but then after that you want more and more and cant stop, but when you finaly finishy your load out which you spent hours making sure you bought the right stuff and it all looks correct the feeling is great (or even if it isnt correct and just looks good
)
I just stuck a load of hessian in my helmet out of boredom it looks alright so i think il keep it thar.
