right, there is a problem with the mortars. Went over to pick them up from the welders only to find out that some cunt torched the workshop saturday night. i put 75 fucking hours of machining into the cunts only to have them turned into a pile of slag by some cunt. i'll have to bring the single fuck off sized mortar now. If anyone fancies a moan then just fuck off, cos thats 3 solid days work down the drain.

Shit Jay, that's bad news. Mortars would have been nice but, they aren't vital to the plan, so, noone is going to moan. :good:

 that's a bugger.

On the bright side, one less thing for the allies to carry! I'll keep back a load of rounds to use at Devil's Hill instead.

Aye, doesn't matter it's big since it will be a fixed position once we get it in place.

Shit biscuits.....

Two things:

1: Will the costs be covered by their insurance?

2: Have you got a new insert for the existing mortar? The smoke charges are a different size to the old thermobang charges.

1: depends if it was arson or an accident. Phil has told me that he will replace the raw materials for me anyway (he's an old mate) so we're not taking a financial hit on it.

2: will check tonight, am not at home at the moment.

Good plan. Someone else will have to ask him though, as I fucking detest the bloke.

Erm, isn't this what we discussed halfway down the page on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=105&t=10578

Jay, have you got one of the mortar rounds in your hands to check the steel shells?

Alternative plan. Beg a super-favour off Tony Lewis - ask him if he can spare ONE shell for this weekend, Special Delivery it tomorrow to my work address on Friday.

Jay, have you got one of the mortar rounds in your hands to check the steel shells?

The new shells are (or were, as is now the case) 6mm wall T8 ally with an internal diameter of 50mm. The old steel shells (for the big mortar) are 3mm wall mild steel with an internal diameter of 42mm.

The new charges are 44mm OD, the old ones were 40mm OD. Obviously, that means that the new charges cant fit into the old shells.

Dave, can you measure the external diameter of the mortar smoke rounds, just in case.

If not, I'll call Tony Lewis tomorrow and ask for the favour. If that fails, then perhaps a call to Paul Dalby will bear fruit.

I'm not keen on asking Josh for more favours....only because he's doing quite a bit for us already.

Yes I have, 44mm.

Dalby doesn't have any mortar kit as far as I'm aware.

Yes, not good keeping asking Josh for help - makes us look very amateurish.

Any word on the mortar shell situation?

Did Tony come up trumps or shall we have to ask Josh or shall I unpack the pyro?
