OK, Josh is going to bring both his mortars for use. Apparently he's used them without the metal insert and they fire fine (meaning our might too) he said he only uses the metal sleeve to give a satisfying cluck then the pyro is dropped into the mortar tube.
So, it looks like it might work for us.

Sounds odd - bet they don't fire as far 'cos the blast is restricted in a shell rather than in a 2" or 3" void.

Yes, but apparently he has a mortar with a narrower tube than ours.
He mentioned 2" mortar, which is 50mm, so perfick hopefully.

Ah, that's a point. Weren't our new mortars supposed to be 2 inchers anyway? Academic point now, I know.
I'll pick him up a box of beer as a thank you. They have them for a tenner in Asda.

Hope the conditions on the ground are conducive to plopping pyro all over the place, we really ought to hand the forest back in the condition we found it - not a pile of ash!

Heh, you will need a bit more than that to put out a brush fire 60m away! Better see if there are beater brushes near the site entrance, there usually are at FC sites. I fit goes tits up we'll use the vehicles to grab them and have a firefighting force.
Perhaps we had better do a site evaluation before punting pyro all over...
