Is it worth setting these up for allies and axis? We could use them to post up mission information in the build up for the event, as well as post up medic and ammo rules for each side, without the other side finding out. Useful for posting up prisoner handling information, etc, as well.

I don't usually see the point of private sections but, in this case, I think it might be useful.

Possibly - lets leave it for a bit though as they always post frantically at the start then everyone has lost interest or run out of things to say in the last week or two before the event!
I'd suggest after Dragoon is over so we can have a four week build up to Jedburgh.

The thing I hate about the private forums is players going on about 'tactics' and people inventing their own games but I suppose we can lay the ground rules from the off.

Yup. We also have to temper Webby's I'm a l33t sneaky beaky Jed.

I'll be keeping him on a tight rein.

Heh, I had to bite my tongue with the "do we have to wear safety glasses when we are asleep"-type post. Its hard to say "what the fook would be the tactical point of a night raid on a camp let alone the disregard for player's safety or having players captured and jeopardising Sunday's daylight tasks".

I'm not sure players have grasped the dire consequences of being captured yet nor the scale of the time-consuming tasks they will have to undertake. There is definitely some 'airsofter' thinking going on here!

So, on reflection, I'll modify my post above to say private forums is a very good idea - we can drum into them exactly what is required of the punter and just as importantly (as Stephen points out) what is not.

 :happyclap: Yes, definitely too much airsofter thinking going on :ghey:. We really will have to stay on top of all players and grip them from the start. A couple of tweaks to the game plan should help us keep them several hundred metres apart on day 1, guaranteeing no gay airsofter firefights when they blunder into each other, or spot each other crashing through the forest.

Josh has offered his 9x9 tents. They might be good for the German base. He's happy to bring them even if they don't get used.

Shall we say yes?

EDIT: Pete's already replied.

I've gawn and ordered a German command tent  They were on offer at a third off and I had such comfy nights using Dave B's tent at shows I'm afraid I gave in and used some of my work Paypal account funds

Should look reet proper at Jedburgh though! And it means I can offer the zelt tent to others - heh, what a flimsy excuse!

And on the subject of tents it looks like we have more than enough loan tentage to satisfy punter's needs.

So is that for you, or do you want CiA to reimburse?

They're nice tents, your set-up at Beltring was great.

Well, I wasn't expecting CiA to reimburse as I made a buying decision without consultation.

I'm do feel bad about buying it TBH - we don't have the money to chuck around but I went through all the usual justification arguments (that are always weighted towards 'to buy' rather than 'not to buy') and reasoned it was an 'asset' than can be resold with relative ease and little financial loss, unlike a uniform for example. Meh, its done now!

The allied private forum is ticking along nicely now and, more info will go up in the days preceeding the event. How are the German ones going Dave? Everything ok? Hopefully, we can get both sides to fever pitch by July 10th.

Aye, fine and dandy. They have got a good idea what is expected of them - hopefully a bit overawed by the magnitude of their task!

Seriously though, I wasn't expecting questions about what to do about groundsheets in the public forum...people aren't really that independently minded are they?!

I'm filled with dread about sending some of them out on tasks unsupervised! :slap:
