Hah, that's good. I don't remember a smoke trail in flight before either. OK, there isn't a LOT of smoke on landing but more than enough for effect and to make ranging indication easy.
This is going to be fun!

Feck. Big problem.

Tony's discontinuing the launched mortar bangs, so we can't get them. We can only get the smokes. Apparently it's been a bit of a H&S grey area having them explode on landing.

Balls.

That's a shame, smokes it will have to be then. There shouldn't be a problem with punters not hearing a bang near them, it will be clear enough they are in the hit zone, maybe clearer. Still, its not quite the same without a bang though. :(

With the help of Del I'm doing some books of radio operator forms for the German funkers to fill in and pass up the line.

Dave B is bringing one of his command tents with the fly sheet, I'm bringing mine so we will have a nice command area. He is also bringing his 160lber, tables and benches - the stuff we used at shows for the canteen. Che has offered to bring his 12 man tent too.

I suggest we have a clear delineation between camping & command areas. Don't want punters putting up their tents all over the place - especially considering that the command tent(s) are going to require quite a large area.

Almost finished on the DF now. I need to build a bigger box for it to stand on and, it ideally needs a trestle table for it all to stand on - does anyone have one? I may add some more knobs and dials too, just for the sake of it! The stensils have literally just arrived (cheers Jay!), so there's that to do too.

I don't have a trestle table, but we could get a cheap pasting table. I think they're about a tenner. Either that or Dave Barrett might have one.

It'd be useful to know how much we've committed to spending on this. If those that have made props can post up here what the final costs are, I can add them into the accounts.

So far, I have spent:

Sandbags: £43.42
Bandages: £30.49
Pryo: £250 (approx - awaiting invoice)

If you could all let me know the costs of the following:

Pete: Direction Finder
Chommers: Radio packs
Chommers: Medic packs
Kermit: Mortars

For the pair of 2" mortars, £160 on Ally and Steel (ex VAT), will need to add in the cost of welding the ally sections, plus painting the lot on top of that. Oh, and if we want real 2" mortar slings, i've found a supplier that does 'em for £15 each....

**edit**

What the fuck am i doing this at 05:25 in the morning for? feckin' insomnia

I hope all that pyro's worth it!

BTW, we're officially running a loss on this event. But we already knew that.

We're adding a few assets to the list though.

Current kitty is now at £474.74 and I've still to put the final costs for the mortars and radios into that.

The DF is finished. Added a couple more knobs for cosmetics and stencilled the sides with eagles. I also cut the antenna pole down a bit. On the day, it just needs a few cables and wires poking through holes I've drilled to make it look better. Ideally, it needs to go on a table, or a tree stump, etc. Now, I've never built a prop for CiA before, so, does it pass muster for something that's going to get blown sky high?

Nice. I've done some authentic Funker message books with which they can note down your cryptic messages!

I'll be painting the radio sets tomorrow night. I've rigged them so a 10g charge will go into a bottom tube and the naptha drops in the top. Triggering the naptha first then then 10g immediately afterwards should ensure one pyro doesn't destroy the other and give a lift to the naptha fire ball. Two different radio sets so it will be a bang-bang, bang-bang. :giggle:

Nice. I've hinged the back of the DF, so a charge can be plonked inside that to do the business.
