Location: Elite Action Games Worthing

Date: February 21st & 22nd 2009

Name: Oporation Jubilee

Background details taken from Wikipedia

The Dieppe Raid, also known as The Battle of Dieppe or Operation Jubilee, during the Second World War, was an Allied attack on the German-occupied port of Dieppe, Seine-Inférieure on the Northern coast of France on 19 August 1942. Over 6,000 infantrymen, predominantly Canadian, were supported by large British naval and Allied air force contingents. The objective was to seize and hold a major port for a short period, both to prove it was possible and to gather intelligence from prisoners and captured materials while assessing the German responses.

As this is our first attempt at running a WW2 themed game we are sticking as close as possible to the Comrades in Arms rules for look alike kit and weapons. These guys have been running WW2 games for some time and their rules work. There will be severe ammo limits, 600 rounds per life so no hi caps if possible, please.

Price for the weekend will be £25, with a ten pound non refundable deposit to book a place. Another hint from the CiA guys is to limit and set the places, so to start with the game is limited to 20 players, 10 Allied and 10 Axis, please make it clear when booking which side you want to play on. When the initial places are taken we will open more places but ensure an even split.

I posted this up on Arnies, and have been advised to post it here as well.
Elite Action Games Worthing is a small friendly site on the south coast in sunny Sussex and as I'm a firm believer that there's not enough WW2 action in the south I thought I'd dip my toe into the world of hosting a game. I'm putting a lot of work into hopefully making it a good game, we've done a few weekenders and some 24 hr games so I know there's enough to play for a weekend.
My plan is to kick off the game at noon on Saturday and play till about 5 ish, with the chance for a two hour night mission for those who want to do it, from 6.30 till 8.30 pm. After that in finest CiA tradition it's all guns away and I'll break open the schnapps that I aquired from a friendly Austrian :D
My wife will do up a pan of stew for us to help soak it up.
After Bacon Banjos on Sunday the games will commence at 10am and run till 3pm.
As I've previosly stated it's my first foray into hosting a WW2 game so please be a bit forgiving if I over indulge in artistic license,( it's a woodland site, not a port!) and as it's an experiment, it is reflected in the price. ( I'd be cutting my own throat if I dun it any cheaper guv, honest ;) )
Please PM me for address to send deposits, sorry I dont have paypal as yet.
If this event is successful, we may host a bigger game at our other site at Dorking later in the Autumn.
Please feel free to ask any questions :good:

That's fine mate, just turn up and if you make it before 9.30am I'll still be doing bacon banjos. Want to keep to timetable though so will kick the game off at ten. The locals will tell you I'm a stickler for punctuality. It never works and winds me up a treat but that's airsofters for ya :)

I think commando would be good, I have 7 Axis places booked with deposits paid, and I have to lock them off at 10 untill the Allies pick up a bit. Our regular game day will be next Sunday so I hope to pick up a bit of support for the Allies there. It will be great to have some support from guys who already have an established loadout as a lot of the regs will be relying heavily on looks alike as this will be their first themed game.

This will be my first WW2 airsoft game and I'll be going for a basic ally impression. I attend this site regularly so hopefully I should be able to help the allies get used to the site.

I'll try to make it down next Sunday in some Brit gear. The thing is to make sure the "look-alike" isn't just their usual DPM /Molle kit :D .

DPM and Molle are banned for this game, and the regs are aware of that. I'd like to bin hi cap mags but I'm not enforcing that as I dont want to be too restrictive on their first game. The 600 rounds per life will (hopefully) put a stop to spray and prey :)

Jimbo, just to let you know, i'll be down this sunday. It's been a couple of weeks since I've hit the trigger, so i'll be down in my Commando gear which i think It would be good for the Guys to see, so they know what they can base there allied gear on without it looking to modern, and if you had your German wools on that would also be an inspiration for those wanting to know what axis stuff they can do.

Hands down with he DPM and Molle rule, I'm not a big fan of Molle as you know, so a Molle free 2 days will be a breath of fresh air :good:

Hi Pimms,
I'll be in splinter camo this Sunday as I'm selling my wools to one of the weekend warriors.
I'm ordering a new set from Epic Militaria this week, that are slightly larger and hopefully a better fit. (too many mince pies at christmas I think ;) ) I'm also ordering a side cap and some insignia, so I'll be all smart and correct for Op Lightening :good:

At last, Allied troops. I was getting worried it would be me all on my jack jones!

if anyone is having trouble stringing a uniform together for The british look, I found that a green woolen trench coat and headover rolled into a commando cap gives of a good look alike impression, I know this is what one of my mates who is possibly comming is going to do. :good:

Zero Bravo, on sunday, shall we have a quick look around the site, I have some ideas about possible game play areas, and ideas on what we can do with them?

Pm sent to Fred, glad to see some Allied troops at last :good:
I know some of the regs at the site are wanting to join in the weekend and are going to make an effort with kit. Although there will be some heavily scrimmed guns I dont think there will be anything modern.
I'll post up the names of people booked after this Sundays game when I've got a few more deposits in.
Actual deposits recieved so far number the Axis at 7 and Allied 0
Realistically the Allied should heavily outnumber the Axis as you should have a 3 to 1 ratio for attacking defended positions, but I think as it's a small airsoft game we'll have to make do.
It may even up the game a bit if I borrow a minimi, wrap it with a hessian sandbag and allocate it to the Allied team.

I must say though, when to odds are stacked against you, it often makes for an interesting game (I'm not saying I want to be on my own!) It's a grand Idea ZB, give the Allies sufficiant fire power, people who know the terrain, and even if the numbers are a little off, it will be made up for by those factors :D

Directions to Elite Action Games Worthing site :
Head down to the south coast to the A27. If you're coming from an easterly direction, head towards Worthing untill you're on the A27 then head towards Arundel. As you leave the outskirts of Worthing the A27 goes into dual carriageway. Go along short stretch then take the next major turn off (A280) and double back on yourself. as you leave the slip road, there's a roadsign (Worthing 5 miles, Brighton 16) a further 300 yards, then a sort of layby then a sharp turning left onto the site. There's normally blue and red armbands showing.
If you're coming from the west, head to Arundel then go along A27 and on towards Worthing, appox 5 miles outside Arundel is a major turn off which goes towards London and the A24 /A280 junction go past this and 300 yds past the slip road is the entrance.
For this game the entrance will be clearly marked

Also here is a map of the site that one of the regs made up

Thanks for the pic Peiper, really looking forward to meeting you guys. This is, I believe the whole ethos of WW2 airsoft in that Airsoft meets Reenactment, Just hoping I can boulster up some interest from the Allies who seem stangely quiet in the south of England ;)

Maybe they are a wee bit shy after readingwhat happened to the Allies at the original Dieppe raid. No major objectives of the raid were accomplished. 3,623 of the 6,086 men who made it ashore were either killed, wounded, or captured (almost 60%). The Allied air forces failed to lure the Luftwaffe into open battle, and lost 119 planes, while the Royal Navy suffered 555 casualties.
