Well my BD has gone from a subaltern to a sgt, the stripes were right pig to sew on but look good now.
Red drill sash looks wicked too... although i have to check its not a colour sgt that wears one, i'm sure its just the orderly sgt on duty.

obviously need a shave and to do some butons up but it was more to show the sash and stripes than any critique
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
looking good!
When we did our drill with TFSS our sergeant wore one.
Looks like he wore it the other way round though
should be over the right shoulder unless you're light infantry or an officer.
i've been researching....
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
lol he was Light Infantry when he was serving...
That would be why then....
i like a nice simple solution.

Okay... with the arrival of my Denison I need to sort out my insignia as well...
Corporal chevrons on the right sleeve... but whereabouts? Measurement from the shoulder seam would be useful. If you don't know it Gadge, I may be able to find the info out myself, but we need to be consistent.
I'll check today
got to pop in to hospital for a check up first
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Right-o... got the details out of the Davis book..
When worn on the upper arm the lower edge of the badge was positioned 9in from the top of the sleeve. The lower point of the one-bar chevron was placed 9in from the top of the sleeve, of the two-bar chevron 9 1/2in and of the three-bar chevron 10 1/2in from the top of the sleeve.
This applies to all uniform items... so Denison included.
BTW... it also confirms the insignia only being on the right arm.
Cool, i've just matched mine off period photos, It seems to sit in the right place.
Serioulsy advise pinning it and wearing it first to check it sits right.
