I'm aware of the fact that this may have been covered in other topics in other threads, but it was something which I have always wondered how nothing has come about already?

As we all know, "the US did D-day all by themselves, and the British and Commonwealth forces had nothing to do with it" :? but 1 of my colleagues has come back from a pre-d-day tour, armed with lots of stories about the british 6th airborne landings east of the Orne.

How cool would a D-Day style paratrooper/Glider game be based on D-day, lets face it the US "Contentin peninsular" games have been played to death already, but how about something along the lines of the Merville battery, or with a site with a bridge on... Pegasus Bridge?-- attachment is not available --

Yes that would be very cool. It's not in the list of planned games for PBI though. We have plans for some other good stuff though!

A game based on the glider troops defensive sheild of the landing beaches in the eastern hugh ground would be cool and as glider troops all it would take would be a quick badge change to say ohhhhhhhhh the Deonshire Regiment

Wasn't it just "A" Company of the Dev's who took part in the glider op's at D-day?

Ah yes your quite right, the rest of the 12th battalion came in by sea and joined up with them on the 7th releiving 12 para, because of a lack of aircraft.

A Company were part of a special force - Parkerforce. They landed at 2130 near Pegasus bridge late in the evening of 6th June 1944, in an area littered with German poles and minefields. Parkerforce was then disbanded and the 12th Devons came under the command of 13 Para.

The next few games are planned to make best use of kit we all have already and dont require new cap badges at all.

We really need to get oosterbeck out the way and then a hallamshire game and then another commando raid before we even *think* about new units!
