due to us being invited to a d-day weekend, would now be a good time to throw open the idea of portraying another airborne unit? i think its a good idea to add the royal ulster rifles to our repertoire. this only needs the change of a cap badge and a square of rifle green behind it. as some of you know, i have issues with doing OBLI anymore after very derogatory and insulting remarks from a certain quarter. any thoughts?
I'd be happier doing ths one with the core impression to be honest mate.
We all have it and most of us have BD badged up for it.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
OBLI or south staffs? if its d-day, are south staffs relevent? if its OBLI, then i am afraid i dont do them anymore.
Its an anniversary of D-day event.
We were invited in our capacity as south staffs, we do that well. I personally cant see the point in rebadging for one event (id also have to paint a new sign)
Its relevant in that its a wwii unit. The south staffs would still be in the UK training and ready to exploit a gap at that time.

Have I missed something here???
Heh, I shouldn't worry, it's nothing to do with you!
On topic:
Yes, for now lets stick to S-Staffs.

Have I missed something here, which invite to where?
I agree with Gadge, S STAFFORDS along with rest of the division were training for and on stand by for D-Day follow up so are fine to portray. Surely first alternative would be HALLAMSHIRES who were involved in Normandy campaign.
thats a good idea john, but i have just spent my last cash. i dont have the badges. i can get away without bd in a denny. maybe in a couple of months i can run to a GS beret and the 49th badges, just not at the moment. the RUR isnt that far from staffs, just a cap badge, and upper sleeve title, the rest is the same, pegasus, airborne, glider ....
but i am happy to go with staffs, dont get me wrong.
Yep, i think at the moment, staying within our core impressions is the best bet.
It gives more people the chance to 'catch up' to the same levels of kit, for a start, and we don't want to get too thinned out in terms of what units can be fully mustered.
I'm not sure we're going to be doing that d-day event anyway... it's still under discussion.
Heck it doesn't matter if we do SStaffs either...
My other group did the South Notts Hussars at the Operation Market Garden last year and nobody blinked an eye.

agreed... 100%. Core units first.
