Looks like you'll need to put a loop at the back of the helmet and webbing buckles at the sides.
yeah... thats cool! I may have to do this...
Syd... I'll have to look at yours sometime!
Does the leather and webbing versions have the same attachment method?
no its slightly different i believe
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
As I understand it the leather strap is attached by 4 bolts, 1 each side and 2 at the back close together. The bolts go through the eyelets on the straps, using different sets of eyelets is the method of adjusting the fit.
The quickest conversion for an RAC helmet is with a web strap although it will look a bit wrong as the side lugs are in the wrong place by an inch or so... is to fasten a spare side lug to the rear.
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
or to make something similar out of wire...
Like I did. Yith, fraid you cant have a look at the one I did, I sold it. If sabre have any 7 1/2 RAC helmets left I'll get one and do it again if you want, with Piks and everything
ah... okay then ... please elaborate on the side attachment then
The webbing straps fit the one I had mate, so even though they were slightly in the wrong place I used them, as It was only a temporery stop gap. It past muster while it was on my head.
Be great to have you along, if i play *rupert* you can borrow my no4 enfield and i'll use a revolver.
No 4 Enfield? - Spiffing!
I'll have a few spare guns available as well...
Bren, Sten x2, No4, revolver. (I only need one of them for the photoshoot!)
