Is anyone interested in a PBI presence at the Crich 40s weekend on 9th and 10th August?

If we go as a group we get in for £5 each, as its a re-enactmant event we'd have to have spot on kit here so it might put one or two off, however its a good day out plenty to see and do and a great 40s pub.

I'l probably be gong anyway but if we went as a group we may be able to show airsoft wwii skirmishing in a very positive light to re-enactors if we do it well.

Its technically a 1940 home front event so i think we'd be better going as 2 commando than south staffords but either is acceptable.

Well I have the application forms... they send me them out.

The event is home front but doesn't have a specific year anymore... so anything 1940-45 will do.

The application forms allow £5 entry to re-enactors who pre-book AND pre-pay... this is £5 for both days. Otherwise its £8 per day.

It used to be free with pre-booking... The charging is a new thing for 2008. Only people who actually help the event get in free... they have 500 passes though, so that's a lot of people helping!

Anyway enough of my bitterness about paying... its still a good day out.

BTW, as Gadge says the kit has to be spot on, no arguments at all.

No2, Commando would seem to be the best choice considering there are already at least 4 of us with near perfect kit. (the ones in AI)... Though Gadge, you'll need some shoulder titles... ;)

What are the arrangements for staying overnight? I've had a look on their website and can't find any details, or were you only planning to go for one day?

There is camping available. Its free but limited in size and is first come first served... prebooking only.

Or me and Gadge live not far away... you can stay at ours.

Previously we've only gone for the day.

BTW, South Staffs is also a valid impression... as we can all do that quite well.. Without the BD jacket on under the denison it can be quite a bit cooler... ;)

Eiter 2 co or south staff is fine by me.

I think it would be cool if we camped out as period as possible and had a small wwii airsoft stand?

Hi

I would be up for attending as well.
I think we should pick one of the impressions and all agree to have our kit prepared for that. If we do a stand we could display some of alternative impressions on it.
I don't really mind which impression we go for but I would say both S.Staffs and Hallamshires are local to Crich.

I have to agree there... as much as No2 commando would be good... those two would be better.

I wouldn't get too het up about having a stand... I mean who are we going to attract? If its re-enactors you want to interest we may be better off just talking to folks and having plenty of handouts available.

I've been having a think about this and providing I don't have to drive there and back the same day I'll be up for this.

Let me know which way you're going to go unit wise so that I can get the appropriate insignia, other than that the only thing I could do with sorting out is a pair of size 10 ammo boots.

If we're going to camp I've got a brown pup tent which should look the part.

I have been known to wear DMS boots at Crich... don't overstress the need to get ammo boots... Ammo boots tend to be more slippy slidey... there's a lot one concrete.

Anyway, I can probably lend out a pair of size 10s, I do have 3 pairs... :)

As for travelling... the offer of a place to sleep at my house stands... Though I'll have to check with Rachel :)

Sounds good, I'll talk to you about it at TEHL this weekend.

What could we do about showing people WWII airsoft weapons. I guess there are restrictions on going around the site with weapons. A stand/camping area would give us somewhere to show intrested parties what weapons are available.
Handouts with contact details are a must. Have anyone done these already or is it something we can help with?

YES! Me, Gadge and John will be there... Pete was coming, but his car broke.

Can you get? If so, can you give Gadge a lift... it'll save me an extra hour picking gadge up! (depends where you are... you're north of me, though aren't you?)

(See my pm for my phone number... )

No, I can't make it I'm afraid, I was just wondering, wish I could.

I hadn't heard anything about it for ages and had forgotten all about it to be honest, so made other plans for this weekend.

Have fun, chaps and I'll see you at Husky.

Cheers

PS

Assune I can't make it, but just in case I can get there (feverishly works out excuses) are you doing Saturday or Sunday or both? Are you doing S.Staffs?

Cheers
