100% no point discussing it in open forum about who should do what, it is what it is so players are free to choose one or the other (or none at all), as they please.
Sorry I'm not directly associated with either group and I'll say what I want about this in public.
If this doesn't get sorted I will also consider trying to get others to also boycott the events... its just bloody stupid.
This hobby does not need competition in events, it needs cooperation.
Dave... I've pm'ed Justin the same comments.
Rich, as you know, it isn't at all helpful to start 'going off on one' especially when you aren't aware of the situation.
Stick to PMs and phone calls please - I'm not getting into another AFRA-type debacale with you!
I've said what I'm going to say... for now.
My recommendation to all PBI members is to not book in to either event until things are sorted or there has been some sort of explanation as to how this is good for the community.
I will not be an intermediary between the two groups. Its your job to sort things out. Your job to have the phone calls and send the pm's.
Gah! I wasn't asking for you to be an intermediary!
I mean if you want to discuss the situation with me or anyone else please don't do it on an open forum, rocking the boat doesn't help!
Sorry I think some heads need banging together so they see sense.
I'm going to sit on the fence with this one as I feel my loyalties are split.
Lengthy PM inbound Rich!
I know we've spoke by PM Dave but is there *no way* either could be shifted even a week so both could be attended by PBI... this may however be a mute point if the Botb game is yanks vs germans only?
"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
Why would the game be Yanks only?
Cos its the Battle of the Bulge?
Because free for alls are a bit shit?
Only joking, i was thinking it might be from the initial imagery and release info but then i've not looked too hard.
(on a serious note I personally do find all axis vs all allies a bit SISK, their might have been brits in the ardennes but they were not slugging it out shoulder to shoulder with the yanks... i find similar re-enactment public battles equally ridiculous and historically farcical. I appreciate why it was done the first time and i fully understand inclusiveness but i also feel the best games i've played in have been those which are tightly themed Arnhem, Eagles, Varsity and although i wasnt at Bryansk it *looked* great.)
Either way once the full info comes out about both games the only fair thing to do will be to put it to a group vote/poll as to which to attend and it would be a shame for either game to lose out on potentially 15+ players as we obviously cant be in two places at once and the whole point of the group is to game together.
edit: Ironically one of the *few* instances of US and UK forces being in the same tactical area is Varsity where the US 17th airborne were misdropped onto the ox and bucks landing zone and they did actually fight mixed up - a command and control nightmare.

OK, enough second guessing what the game is - it might be better to wait a bit.
After all, this isn't an American film and in any case Monty won the battle (or so he told everyone )...
heh...
Well we need to make a decision as to which game to go to (if any) and hence we have to second guess it!
No I totally agree I want to see the game adverts for both before any fair call can be made as to PBI attendance (or my own for that matter).
Its just a personal preference for historical proportion as opposed to 'lets fight an entire three week campaign over 200k on 400 metres of woodland in a day'.
I much prefered the feel o 'real time - real distance' games like Eagles, it was aesthetically more pleasing to be part of too (im a sucker for stuff that looks good).

To my knowledge 6th Airborne were in the Ardennes and 51st Highland Div were rushed in to stop the Germans where the Americans had more or less crumbled and surrendered en masse (its not widely talked about and was hushed up for political reasons although their is a monument in the ardennes to the 51st).
IIRC the 51st didnt do as well as expected and had lost their aggressive spirit they had showed in the western desert. mainly cos they were all old hands who knew the war was ending and didnt want to take risks and get killed at the last minute.
This (again IIRC) is pretty much classic for late war brits and one of the reasons the US found them sluggish, they'd already been fighting for three or four years before a yank had fired a shot in anger and had seen first hand what rushing in shouting 'curahee' does to a fine body of men... and picked the bits up afterwards.

Crying out loud - I'm trying to run a business and have spent the entire morning with a barrage of correspondence all morning. I only made the game public last night and all will become crystal clear in the next couple of weeks - no need to panic! Please be patient, I have other things to do...
me too mate... I have a ton of bug reports to filter through and have hardly started them.
Sort them into:
Ants
Cockroaches
Beetles
Spiders
Caterpillars
Misc
that should make it easier?
