I'd still stress that organising airsofters is like herding cats and that we really don't recommend a training/operations day.

I see no benefit in it, unless *everybody* is there then the 'training' falls to rat shit as soon as game on is called as you're only as strong as the weakest link. If section a are blazing away but section b are picking their noses rather than watching their arcs then they will just walk into trouble.

As a rule i find very few airsofters up for 'training' and the like, if they wanted that they would join the TA or a re-enactment society.

I think let him go ahead with it but strongly urge him not to, then when no one books in for it and it doenst work we'll look like we knew what we were talking about.

I think we urge him to concentrate on running one good big game first...

If he does some training days and they are toss then its potentially going to put off more customers than it attracts.

Where are these training days going to be?

Remember that people won't necessarily want to keep traveling all the time...

As you see from my reply to him I agree to an extent. But if he wants to try it that's fine by me.

BTW, training isn't really what it's about (in the sense of learning as I will be doing this Sunday) it's more about working together and team building. No bad thing if he is bringing new faces into the WW2 scene and no-one knows anyone and are unfamiliar with working under command and with a fraction of the ammo they are used to. Better than finding out the hard way in an actual game where running around like a typical walk-on ain't going to help the big game at all.

Just to reiterate, this isn't his first 'big' airsoft game, or indeed his first big WW2 game, just the first big WW2 airsoft game! We have only done two small WW2 airsoft games and neither of those were 100%!
