Hey
Just a thought about the way we do the sides at events.
Now there are six of us and we all have preferred loadouts and kit, but there are or will be times when we cant all be at the same event and times (like this one) where we want to play for ther other side for one reason or another.
So i know that I can do:
UK Airborne/commando/chindit
German Heer
Rich can do:
Uk airborne/chindit/line inf
CW:
US infantry
Waffen SS
Guy:
Heer
Steve:
US airborne
Kermit:
HG Division
FJ
Waffen SS
And obviously we can all do resistance if needs be.
Does that more or less cover it.
Would anybody with kit for the one side be up for the idea of getting a set of the other side over time? I realise you sold your airborne kit guy!

I'll only ever be a Yank because of dire financial straits I'm afraid. God knows what I'll do if my gun goes bye-bye.

Thats fair enough i just know that i'm going to want to play germans at some events and allies at others.
Mainly as my back problem means that i'll usually choose the side with the least running around!
My main thought is that i dont want to be too entrenched on one side or too partisan.
I mean if we should decide to do 'Stalingrad' in a years time who'se going to orgnaise the russians?

I swing three ways - Brit Airbourne loadout too!
I don't mind swapping, not for this event though - just spent a shedload so that I can play with Orky this time rather than against him. I have missed that a great deal - I wouldn't have enjoyed Caen had I not been playing alongside him...

I hear what you're saying Dave and thats fine.
Its a crying shame that its ended up this way as you and Orky playing as US would really help resolve our problems with the allied team organisation for CR.
Not sure why, sides are only out by one man and you have the huge advantage having Ian and Ed. Why not test people out? Barry might be great if you give him a chance as might others...

Hmm, wrong thread for this but...
Don't really want to be trying people out at CR as I potentially won't have contact with them for a number of hours and if they just aren't cut out for it then it could be very miserable for their sub-ords.

It'd just been easier if it was a CiA organiser that we know rather than a total unknown.
As for numbers... I know this is a "Commando Raid" so a bit different, but I always remember the "Art of War" that says something like "Only attack when you have superior numbers".
You'd be able to get me into resistance stuff (though, i dare say my paternal grandfather is now turning in his grave after what ive just said) but Allied stuff really holds no appeal to me whatsoever...

Sure, but folk are being overlooked because they were ignored or untested at previous games. And the reality is that squads will be working as a team plus in patrols the NCO is going to be the first to cop it so the rest had better be up to the job of getting-on-with-it!

It is the rule in war, if our forces are ten to the enemy

British Army says 3 - 1 , minimum...
for an attack....
a raid, less than a platoon, fighting patrol should be between 8 and 16 men.
recce patrol 4 - 8

Forgive me... but it looks like we could be fucked here...
Yeah, we're fighting patrols in effect that can be combined into attacking forces. As long as the Germans won't (I hope) all be in the same place at the same time then we can time our attack to have superior numbers.

looking at the plans for the weekend, they probably will be at least after the first part of the event anyway.
No, there isn't a problem. Guy explained this at our meeting, hope I can pr

Isnt the point of this one, sneaking about and stealthily doing the job commando style as opposed to headlong frontal assault
hence Guys 'set battles' at intervals where the dispotion of force is pretty much rigged for the players, allowing the rest of the time to be spent on patrol and counter patrol?
Or did i totally miss the point tat the briefing meeting

"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
No, that's how I had it. Then we schedule an attack on the convoy the next day, right?

Beat me to it Dave

I agree that the early part is no problem... however the later part when we are actually attacking the objectives may... its going to require some pretty fancy footwork from both sides if its going to work.
Thats not to say it can't work... just that its not a walk in the park. ![]()
