Yes brilliant, a complaint about heavy handed modding is respnded to by removing posts.

Are Beaker and Fluffy modding here now?

Christ, be sensible - all this public paddy throwing isn't doing anyone any favours.

Re-read the stuff I have removed. Poacher (ill-advisedly, and I told him so) picked up on the word 'proper'. He omitted to put any emphasis on it and his intent wasn't clear.

Scaley was ribbing 'proper' reenactors having shabby kit. Poacher as Yith if he was a 'proper' reenactor. Yith said I dunno. This, Poacher felt, put AFRA in a difficult position and he made a statement on the legailities. Subsequently, following my PMs, he realised that his original post wasn't clear at all and publicly apologised.

On returning from W&P PD added a statement of fact, aimed at all (not Nige or Rich in particular).

Nige's (or anyone's) status as a reenactor is NOT in question - the point was about was is said in public posting. Slagging off reenactors kit isn't acceptable not is saying you are not a reenactor when you are a card carrying AFRA member.

Now, lets get real please. Nige was about to sell all his kit when someone told his he had the wrong cap badge FFS, not he has done it again. He is a stressed person, we know that. If people READ what is written instead of going off on one then things would be a lot quieter. They don't, but there you go.

Oh and Gadge, stop the ASCOCK comparisons. I have been stuck as an in between here - forum users complaining ON BOTH sides to me. I am MODERATING a difficult situation.

The point is that mine and Gadges posts were designed to do 2 things.

1) stop nigel stepping down from re-enactment. WE NEED HIM. HE IS ESSENTIAL.
2) stop others posting bollocks without realising the consequences. There was no need at all for PD or poacher to be heavy handed as they were. and percieved threat on their side was BULLSHIT.

Agreed and i also personally feel that this forum is getting the way of ASCUK in parts.

Modding is definitely heavy handed and unpleasant of late.

I feel Nige is owed an apology or at the very least an explanation.

Yes, I understand you don't want Nige to piss off 'cos you NEED him.
I'd rather he didn't piss off 'cos we WANT him.

PD's remarks were IN GENERAL and NOT aimed at one individual. It was statement from a responsible body.

Could one of you give me Nige's phone number please, I need to speak to him.

I use the term Need in that nige rounds of PBI organisation team perfectly, hes already volunteered the services of his van even thought he has quit cos hes a nice guy.

Wanting nige to be part goes without saying....

Arse, you did it again. Sorry, I'm not a Gadge sycophant. I have MY own views just as anyone else on the forum. I DID come down heavy on the comprehensive trashing of Craig's game section by more than one person. Have a look, what a mess. Give the guy a break and let him fill it out in his own good time. I have asked him to lock information threads as forums users tend to use an open thread as a invitation to post...

When he suggested the bloody thing you all jumped on him and told him not to ask his mates if they were interest but he had to do it like this and this

for fucks sake, take a step back and look at yourself.

Nope, encouraged to do it properly - which he did bless him.
The only point I made was (standard advice) to post up a firm event, not a general 'I'm running an event' for the very sound reason that flagging up an event in May meant no one else could plan an event then, even were it not to come to pass.

As soon as he gave me the details I put everything in place for him within quarter of an hour. Hypocritical I'm not. Encouraging I am.

True to say Guy waded in a bit heavy, but then he always does. Sadly without knowing what has been going on or reading previous posts! Meh, I have to live with it!

My point exactly Dave...

Look at what used to happen over there. Someone posts something contrary to the staus quo and a mod jumps in saying 'dont do it like that do it like this' or 'dont be a knobber' or makes a gay smilie, before the day is out every other mod has put their oar in and rammed the point home.

See a parallel.

Remember when Welsh wanted to set up a forum for fun and was shouted down? While it might not have been the best thing to do he had every right to give it a go, we dont have a monopoly on the wwii airsoft, sorry 'combat events' scene nor should we strive for one. Actig like we rule and run it and it s'our way or the highway' is arrogant and smacks of the other forum i wont mention in this post.

Stuff like that really.

I'll add that for better or worse this attitude and aggressive modding is upsetting people and losing players. now we've all been guilty of it to date but I think the 'this is how it is' mentality has to stop. Its either a forum for all WWII airsoft players, its a forum for just CiA players and CiA events or events done the CiA way or its a forum for moving wwii airsoft into the realms of accepted 're-enacting' to save what we do. Which is it.

If its the former then we need to step back on telling folk what to do, if its the second choice or the third then i'm probably in the wrong place.

Well, I don't disagree and I do know what you mean.

I suspect you are also nodding towards the 350fps thread! Trust me on this one, no conspiracy, no ganging up, no prior (or parallel) discussion elsewhere. It just happened we all thought the same, unsurprisingly.

That thread was started in order to get people thinking. That's all. My intention was misread and misquoted so many times as to be ridiculous.

Exactly, i think its great is one or two mods put up a 'poser of the month' type question but when it becomes perceived as a pbi vs cia debate them we've failed epically.

Recently a few things have got heated and i think that we just need to refrain from all jumping in on a post because we either feel we have a right as mods to comment on everything or a loyalty to a group.

I remember being cautioned by yourself and Jay some time ago Dave that a comment by a forum mod was perceived to be the opinion of all (i.e all six of us) and to that extent opinions far off to the left or right or that were particularity partisan in a respect should be avoided.

Especially if four or five of the mods 'think the same thing' and are vocal about it it can make others wary of posting a differing opinion in case they are shouted down.

Equally i feel *one* mod cannot just say 'discussion closed' when players and other mods are still extremely upset about comments made.

We've discussed this one to death too and decided that it was bang out of order for one mod to remove posts or close discussions arbitrailty.

Right, convo with Nige done. Tried to make him come to Crich just to see Rich punch me in the face. :box: Lets see how it works out!

Tried to explain the context of PD's public statement and that deacts are poised to be banned and ANYTHING publicly stated to put at risk the last chance saloon of using airsoft guns needs to be addressed.
He did confuse my tap on the wrist about slagging off reenactor's kit with AFRA's statement about reenacting policy but that's what comes of reading things through a red mist.

I pointed out that were it not for forums none of this would have happened - 'tis always the way  and that there is no change about actually GOING to events and DOING it rather than talking about it.

Heh, his wife is earning shed loads from the driving thing but is paying off debts rather than let Nige fritter on gucci kit. Sensible lass!

Anyhoo, fingers crossed he will calm down (although he says he isn't annoyed or angry just 'not enjoying it'. Which I think is one and the same!).
