Hopefully you all got copied in on the email I sent yesterday to Ian at LAC regarding cost for Kasserine. We're hoping that his standard Green fee can be paid on the day, however a £5 booking fee can be taken on the forums, which can cover our cost of props / pyro purchasing.
Was thinking last night about the following points, and I wondered what you all think.
If the Wasps are being kind enough to bring some vehicles, should we offer them a discount, or at least sub towards their fuel cost for the event. I think it might be a gesture of good will to offer to put towards the running costs of the vehicles whilst in game at least, because without them, the games won't has as much impact if we've planned for them to be there. This will obviously be food for thought once we see how much we have left in the pot at the end of organising.
Yith and I have been discussing the possibility of giving each playing member a little trinket from the game, to either use during and/or keep after. I was thinking along the lines of the following:
Using a link that Chomley put up ages ago, I have made an M2 ball ammo carton (which is what M1 Garand ammo would have been kept in whilst in shipping), could give one of these to each US member, as it holds about 500 rounds, and a speed loader perfectly.
What could we do for the Germans? Lardy?
Well its Dave Barret that would be bringing the vehicle so I would definitely offer him a discount. Probably a free game all together would be best. Then a discount for all the vehicle drivers. Say one discount per vehicle. How much of a discount will depend upon what we can afford.
In terms of trinkets I'm not sure what would be best. I'm not sure how useful an ammo box would be. I like the idea of an award like Varisity but I think that would be too expensive, or perhaps some very Afrikaest item. I'll have a look around and see what I can find.
I've been looking through the ration stuff PD put up so food is another option. Chocolate might be the easiest to do; a printed label on some cheap chocolate. It might become a bit liquidy in June though. Maybe I should drop PD a PM and see what he recommends?
Ive already sent a PM to PD, not heard anything.
I think subbing Dave's place all together may be a bit over the top, see what everyone else things.
Actually I quite liked the idea of the ammo box. It's something that could be taken away and used at other events. It'd be nicer than seeing people struggle with plastic bottles of bbs. They do rather ruin the '40s look!
I personally have a couple of ammo boxes with zip lok bags in them in my revolver rig and it works quite well.
