As requested by Yith I shall put forward my views on regen and medic rules for the final assualt. I had made notes but now can't find them but I've had a quick discussion with Webby and this is somewhat similar we believe. The main aid is to keep the game flowing and remove the element of people just getting up and walking back to regen which I feel detracts from the immersion of the scenario.
The idea is to have invulnerable dedicated medics who can repeatedly heal the wounded as required. The first time a player is hit they can be bandaged by anyone as per normal. The second hit they must be healed by a medic who remove the bandage and return it to them. This can then continue repeating as long as neccessary.
However if the wounded player is a position under fire or where bring them back to life would be unfair the medic must bring the casualty back to a forward aid post. Ideally it would be good to have people doing this with stretchers but thats probably asking too much. Instead simply supporting them as they carry them back will do. The aid post will be just behind the front, out of sight in cover and would be moveable- a stretcher would do. Once there the casualty spends a couple of minutes 'being treated' before returning fully restored to the battle. They could be made to stay longer until a small squad is formed rather than just returning to battle alone.
A variation on the idea to make it harder for the attackers would be as follows;
1st hit= bandage by anyone
2nd hit= bandage by medic if safe or pulled back to 'regen' (a forward aid post) by the medic if not.
3rd hit = pulled back to 'regen' (a forward aid post) by the medic
at aid post full life is restored after a couple of minutes
This gives the attackers a maximum of 3 hits before needing to regen making it more difficult for them and much harder work for the medics.
Its not as radical as I first imagined but hopefully its a bit more practical. I did consider the idea of self medicing where a player under cover and not under fire could heal themselves (1 hit only) but that was more for Kasserine due to the lack of cover. Comments?
It's actually almost exactly the same as was used in the last mission at Cassino.
Mindham being the medic.
They stole my idea?!?!
Well at least it works.
It was entirely suited to the scenario...
I think Mindham was very tired at the end... I was past my 8th life when we finished.
Yes, the Germans had one in their assault - and we would have had one earlier if you had done your recon work better.
yes I think the dedicated medic is much better than the regen.
The one point I made was at Cassino I chose two people to do it before had who I knew firstly - wouldn't mind being gunless for a scenario and, secondly - could be trusted not to 'take the piss' with it.
Do we have the required people that we trust to do this? (it is unfair to ask Mindham again btw, as he was fecking knackered)
Carly will do it, shes game
