He has a point.

So... if you hide your gun inside your coat pocket in the "it's a stick-up!" style and then shoot... you'll kill yourself.

It's dead realistic this airsoft thing. oh yes... :)

For some reason all this talk of vehicles and DAK has me singing the theme to Raiders of the Lost Ark....

Anyway... that's by the by.

What I really want to post is this...

Nige said this to me yesterday on MSN "i think we need a good old fashioned blatfest blood bath without the clever subterfuge and missions,,, "

And you know what I think he's right. I reckon Kasserine is a good time to do it. We have a unique site, new units, vehicles... we really don't need to complicate things any more. So keep everything really simple, make the missions really basic and just have a cracking weekend airsofting. Keep it simple, but do it right.

Sounds like a good idea, it doesnt have to be all moody and serious!

I disagree, I like moody and serious! :raspberry:

But being serious (again) if I want an all day blatfest I'll go to an open day. The unique site and scenario will sell the game but I'd rather hoped it would be remembered for a bit more than that.

What we need is a balance of missions to keep thing interesting and keep everybody happy. Some sneaky slow missions, some out and out crazy assaulting bloodbaths missions and a few somewhere in the middle.

I think t'pwoblem is that a 'good old fashioned blat-fest' is one of those phrases that sounds good, but means very little. What is it?

To my mind, and I am guessing Lardy's too, it is uncontrolled, undirected and unrewarding shooting at.... anything.
To Nige's, and I would assume Yith's and Webby's, mind it is probably being used to describe something where the objective isn't to sneek around, arrest scientists or perform other complicated actions.
Moody and serious? I'm not sure I'd describe any as 'moody and serious', I am not aware of someone running a film noir event or some such, they are all fun an ultimately childish.

I agree with Lardy. The game wants to be a balance of different types of scenario that offer intense firefights, subtle sneekyness and all inbetween.

Correct... Simple missions with military objectives, less pissing about with things a normal squaddie wouldn't really experience.

i.e. Less of the Special Forces and more of the Regular Infantry.

Being subtle and sneaky being brought down to a minimum and enjoying the environment a lot more.

I mean, feck, it's going to be hard to be sneaky in that environment.

I see your point. Its based upon a front line battle so we should focus on it being a front line battle not some L33t SAS sniper based special mission game. Not that I think we were going to anyway. Simple tasks for simple soldiers- some recce, some attacking, some defending and maybe a little convoy/ ambush stuff thrown in. 8)

Anyway Armisteads, have you finished you second lot of ideas yet. I'm interested to see what you've come up with (as I'm not really happy with mine).

just about.

Sorry for my absenteeism but my computer died on me. I have been borrowing Dean's when he goes to bed, and being at work today is easier.

I will get back to you and post up tonight.

Yeah I dont think any of us were on about open day high cap fests!

A "stand up and fight" doctrine would be nice, rather than having to worry about getting to point X before time Y and anything complicated. Not for all the scenarios though, some of the sneaking and tense observation scenarios are just as intense and rewarding.
