A little bit off topic but are you any further along with the M1 Carbine? I'm weighing up my finances at the moment and I'm wondering whether I should set the cash aside for that kind of purchase or not at this point.

sorry for reviving the thread, I was wondering if you could tell me a bit more about the shotgun shells and how do they act in the field?
I still do not own the m14 (It is going to be Cyma 99%) so I don't know how does the mag works. Is it possible to quickly change the shell without spending too much time fitting it and checking if it feeds?

It's not one of the shells, its a small mag that is fitted in to an airsoft shotgun. It's about 2 inches deep which means it just sticks out of the bottom of the gun, giving it the Garand profile and with a little fettling can be made to fit the M14, I also hear that it fits the Cyma one better than the TM, anyone confirm that?

I use the shotgun mags in my M1. They work really well, i get some feeding issues, but that is mainly due to the mag having a slightly weak spring inside it. You get about 5 bb's that wont feed per mag. they will just drop out when the mag is removed.

Removal of the mag couldn't be any easier. They have indented areas for your fingers to grab. So just grab and pull, slap in a new one. and off you go.

They hold about 13-15 bb's in total but u'll loose 4-5 bb's remember. I've now increase my total mags to 24, that gives me about 125 shots before i have to totally reload. Thats done with a speed loader.

When you receive the mags, they need a tiny amount of modifying. Some people go to the lengths of making ridges so that they secure into the mag well, but ive found they dont require as much engineering, as that.

All i do it cut the rim of plastic off around the BB feed and they fit and feed snug as a bug in a rug.

RSOV.com stock them

I bought up the last of there stock for now. But they will come back into stock pretty quickly.

wait, i have to break the shotgun shell and take the small mag out of it?

Edit: biguk was faster :)

summa summarum, i buy that things from link and modifiy it as said above? pretty cool.

So, i can expect 9-10 shots out of mag, right?
can you increase the number of bbs in mag?

Yes that is correct 9-10 shots from the mag. Unfortunatly you cant increase capacity of the mag.

But remember a real M1 garand mag will only hold 8 rounds, so its much more realistic, to keep it at a low capacity.

is it realistic to get sprayed by 120 round midcap? :(

it would be nice if everybody were using realcaps ;)

Edit: so it is 3 pounds for 2 mags?

ps. can someone pls link me an image of m1 with shotgun mag (i can't tell difference between cutted m14 mag and shotgun mag)

the image i posted above is of a Shotgun mag. A cut down M14 mag has the same vertical lines as found on the normal size M14 mag, and possibly has a winder at the bottom.

it is not because of the mag, it is because I wanted to see how does it look on Garand :D

PS. what's the problem with TM shells, I have read that they hold much more, there is no chance to make them fit or?

Edit: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v339/ ... mag005.jpg that would be it?

(shellshokt, thnx for borrowing your pic without asking :D )

Yeah thats an ACM Shotgun mag in the picture. A TM shotgun shell wont work at all the exit for the BB's is in the wrong place. Plus Its not long enough i suspect.

I doubt you'll ever get a "Hi-Cap" capacity mag in a garand, its just not possible. Especially if you want it to stay looking like a garand, and be realistic.

The ACM mags are cheap enough to buy a dozen or more. So id stick with them

Not strickly true Matt, I use TM shotgun shells in my M1, requires irreversible work to the actual M14, but you can get the shells feeding through a 90 degree bended tube feeding into the gun no meither, plus you get 30 shots, instead of 10 (3 shells fit in each of the cartridge belt pouches too)
