Yeah the reviews of it aren't too favorable either sadly :(

Still it looks pretty. But for the price you could buy 7 deactivated ones :)

Well, the scope and mount together would be worth as much as a deac rifle.

well maybe 2/3rds for a repro scope and mount. I dont think this one comes with a scope tho.

Curious its slightly cheaper than the other one they brought out. (by slightly I mean £30 or so :D)

If the thing shot 1" groups at a 1000 yards I still wouldn`t/couldn`t bring myself to pay that much for an airsoft gun. I`d wait for the Chinese to clone it..at least its not a shell ejector

Well it was the low fps and the shocking bad plastic parts and molding that put me off for that price. Id be a bit miffed if I'd paid £150 for that let alone £800. Looks like KTWs reputation is secured for the meantime.

i have a suspition these are collectors pieces rather than genuine skirmish weapons. why make a mosin naggant that a few people might buy , when you can make a million seller like an M1 garand or a no4 enfield? makes no business sence to me.

I've just bought a repro PU scope and mount (complete with drill and tap!) from accumounts for £125 posted. I'll post up some photos when it arrives, as well as some pics of my Mosin sniper rifle project (again, when the donor gun arrives). I've got all of the wood and metalwork for it, I just need it all together in one place to get things moving.

I'm using the 91/30, I've not seen any pictures of carbines used as sniper rifles. Plus the 91/30 just looks "right" with a PU scope on it.

I look forward to seeing it Pete. My project is on hold for a while after buy a donor fell though. I have a couple of others to keep me busy though.

Since you're putting all this effort into making the gun it seems a shame you're not doing a proper soviet sniper kit to match it really.

I intend to Rich. Already been on a few sites, eyeing up some kit. The other Sov' stuff I've ordered will fill the gap until I get round to ordering some more suitable, authentic gear. Plenty of time before any Ostfront game to get it all sorted. The rifle may be ready for Operation Lightning if all goes well.

Excellent. I thought you weren't intending to after what you said about the M69 kit you were buying. If you need any help with kit feel free to ask. :good: Are you planning to get a camouflage suit or stick with a Plash?

I'll look forward to seeing your M91/30 at Lightning then. I'm interested to see what it turns out like and how good the PU scope replicas are. I had hoped to get mind done for then too but I'll just try to get my M1 carbine done instead. :(

I'm just going to go with a plash (suitably weathered) and a bit of scrim on the rifle, as I don't really like Russian WW2 camo and you don't really see many pictures of snipers wearing it either, particularly in urban environments.

I know I was going to go with the post war kit but I've changed my mind, now that I've shelled out so much for the weapon I may as well get the uniform as well (it's pretty cheap after all). I'll use the M69 for "mix & match" on partisan loadouts, or give it to my Brother.

Yes a Plash is effective enough and is definitely more suitable for urban usage. I plan to get a camo suit at some point as I quite like the leaf pattern one but it can wait a while yet. I'd rather get a basic infantry impression sorted first. Trouble is now thats nearly done I'm tempted to start putting together a Naval Infantry one. :slap:

Going for the correct russian kit makes sense in the long run. The relative cheapness makes spending a little bit extra a whole lot more worthwhile. As I said in the guide I'd only recommend opting for M69 kit if you only want to use it once or have a very tight budget, otherwise get your moneys worth spending the extra on ww2 pattern stuff. Still it make a good partisan or loaner kit like you say.

I've also got a 91/30 set of parts, but it went back to the bottom of the list of projects a while ago after i realised i needed to create the entire barrel/receiver from turned/milled solid steel to get the strength there.

Added to that, the MP001 i've got to fit in it is firing at about 300fps, and so will need serious (and expensive!) work to get it to a decent spec, it's sadly not a priority at the moment.

:(

Looks like there's a few Mosin Nagants in the offing, I've got parts for a 91/30 and 2 M44 carbines, although I'll do them as M38's as they were more prolific and used through the whole war, plus the M44 has a permenantly attached sprung loaded bayonet which probably wouldn't go down well in a skirmish
