Captains log,

Oct 19th 1943
After a tough two days fighting we, have forced back all enemy units holding Alife, thankfully we encountered less German resistance than we had expected , but what we had not been told was, that a third of the force holding Alife were SS units who fought to the the bitter end, refusing to give up any ground easily. Some of the Germans seemed so young they only looked about 15 !
They had teams armed with anti-tank weapons who kept ambushing us and our support not to mention we also encountred booby trap after booby trap, and even now we are trying to make the town safe. The 3rd and 100th have secured both flanks and we are digging in, just in case of a counter attack, and the damm rain will just not stop ...

Oct 23rd
We managed to get a days rest yesterday and to get out of the damm rain , but that did not last long we have been given orders to secure high Ground northwest of Alfie, we dont know expected enemy numbers, but we expect a tough fight as they are dug in..

Oct 24th
We managed to secure the high ground yesterday, but at great cost, the enemy were dug in and fought for every single inch, also a german counter attack with tanks was fought back with our friends at the 100th taking out at least 1 tank, our orders are to keep this ground secure until further orders..

Oct 27th
We have been given new orders and are to advance to Cioriano, which by all acoounts due to small trails and alrge amount of hills may be slow and hard progress

Oct 31st
Well after days of hard fighting we have made it into Cioriano, the fighting was made a lot harder with all supplies having to be moved by hand carry only, and with pockets of German troops dug in this was slow progress, we have orders to wait for reinforcments and new orders

Nov 3rd
We have taken on reinforcements to bring us back to near full strength, and i have been given my orders, we are moving out tomorrow to cross over the Volturno and to take Santa Marie Oliveto, I have been told the enemy is well armed and in good spirits, and have laid a huge amount of mines and booby traps, we expect this will cause slow movement and we are relying on the enginners to clear our way through, the bad news did not stop there with intel telling me that the German forces consist of SS, and Panzer Grenadiers all who have orders to hold to the last man if needed...

Nov 4th
Santa Marie Oliveto or Bust ....
