If we are sufficiently enthused by the site and agree a 'Stalingrad' game is doable we really need to make this public ASAP (or sooner than ASAP!).
Not only will it reserve us a month's 'slot' in an already filling up calendar it will make clear to all that CiA hasn't gone away or given up or fallen out - rumours I keep hearing whispers of.
Proposed game name (picking up on Jay's post): Rattenkrieg. Punchy, pronounceable and descriptive.
Bang up a date/cost/site info/outline scenario (as per CiA forum rules) for a late January date, including dress code.
Limit numbers as per usual, 20 a side. Open bookings beginning October (three months ahead, not five months as PBI did )
All seems logical to me. A further suggestion would be to have a word with some of our players that already have Ruskie gear and do a full on kit-guide for it.
Dropping hints that ruskie doesnt have to be expensive would be a good plan as well. Greatcoat and pilotka cap at the bare minimum will suffice!

Aye. And we mustn't forget Pete's helmets!
Well, that's nine interested.
What shall we take as a sufficient number, bearing in mind availability?
Plenty people have yet to see the announcement. We NEED 20, but yes we need more interest than 20 due to dates. I suppose we will just have to go for gut feeling that we can gather more interest once people start booking and we announce the site, as they tend to do. Alternative is we have asked for 20 people to be interested but actually open the bookings at 15 per side.
Frankly, we know we could get 25 a side Germans vs Brit/US combined forces so this is a fall back, should Ruskie numbers not build sufficiently.
BTW, I have asked Lardy if he can make the Impromptu day so we can do some photos for a kit guide. I'll ask Barrie if he can bring his togs too.
It's getting there though. The people we expected to post up are all there, plus a couple of others. So, early signs are encouraging.

Pete and Dave, can you post the photos you took in this section for Guy to have a gander?
I really wish that I'd taken more!

It's not like it's a long way for us to get some more! Cheers.

Very true! We're going to have to go back at some point before the game anyway.

I'll take a tripod next time!
Thing is, one picture is going to like like another - big empty tunnel!

* Scratch that, its just my arse. *
Gadge has been sniffing around!
Bit worried that a tunnels game in January will totally feck our booking for a tunnels game in February Dave...
reply (no point in denying it)
Cor lummy, have faith in your own game!
You will have opened booking two or three months ahead of us for a different game style, in a different part of the country with a different scenario and nation content. The only thing that is similar is it's WW2 and indoors!
I really, really don't see one will affect the other. Probably the biggest factor against yours will be over-familiarity with the site. We ARE being ambitious but then meh, we have never played safe!
Shit man, check it out!! Is that Oswald?

hi dave
hope your well,i have had a couple of PM's from gadge re your ideas for a mixed unit training day.it think its a winner.looking forward to it, should be a great day and a huge laugh.
your russian game idea is good, i would be up for it, but i do think a game in january is going to be hard to fill. its the most expensive time of the year and a LOT of regular PBI/CIA players dont have russian kit.....especially these days when everyone is living on credit , and usually being paid monthly.
please consider an early spring date. january and february stink for having any cash. we put freshman on at its date as we have had a lot of lobbying for a game to break up the long winter months. move it a bit and people will buy gear for it.i would.i know others would too.hope to see you soon, ( your stuff at victory was amazing)
nige.

We think the training day should work, its just building on everything we have done before that's all - need to work on the details though, got to make it worth the player's while.
A January game will be paid for in October or November so we shouldn't have moaning of no funds - they won't need any after Christmas. Or they can cancel Christmas like I do!
We are taking a flyer on Russian, that's true. But chaps don't have Russian kit because there are no Russian games - catch 22 and someone needs to make a move. OK, Gunman has tried already but he doesn't count.
An indoor game takes advantage of piss-poor weather and short daylight hours - this has always been a burden since our first game. Plus CiA won't have run a game for SIX months - leave it until March and that is EIGHT months - they think we have given up as it is!

Dave
Im just cautious because...
This has happened before (re varsity)
Three months is not a great length to ask folk to get entirely new Russian kit
This *will* piss off the rest of the guys meaning that its four less russians booking in *and* will completely blow any training day plans out the water before they get off the drawing board (to use a mixed metaphor)
I'd also caution that January is financially dire for everyone... mostly why we didn't book Freshman for then.Given the current financial climate anyway and the fact that all games are struggling to book out like they used to it seems utter madness to run two essentially similar games almost back to back.
With Craigs Cassino game in May surely a late March or Early April game much more prudent.
I cant see you guys putting on a an urban CQB game a couple of weeks before ours helping PBI/CIA relations at all to be frank, which is a shame as i put forwards the idea of a bridge building training event and they were on the whole fairly receptive.
If you'd like us to work with you (as we would) then I urge you to reconsider seriously compromising the game we've been planning.

Some things to consider:
We aren't running a CQB event.
Our event won't be two weeks before yours.
People will pay for the game in October or November - not after Christmas.
Kit requirements for Russian is very simple - brown greatcoat.
We promised a Russian game for December and that didn't come to pass 'cos Phoenix Urban went bust.
If we run a game in January that will be SIX months since the last one, run it in March and that will be EIGHT months. Hell, players think CiA have given up as it is.
Indoors games are best suited to cold months with short daylight hours, which always limits woodland events in winter. Why not do some work drumming up interest in Freshman? It seems to have been left hanging with all energy going into reenactment matters - the sooner they book up for yours, the more secure your event will be.
By the way - we haven't made a formal announcement of when the game will be. Unfortunately you forced me into a position where I had to make a public statement. This wasn't our intention - first things first - we needed an answer to "have we got enough interest for A Russian game to go ahead?"
Ever the diplomat David!
I would have gone "Nige - fuck off" and "Gadge - fuck off". Some fucking cheek Nige has got considering the amount of cash he just wanged on a bloody Bren gun!
What irritates the SHIT out of me is that Freshman is at UCAP. Shit, is that all they can do? Grange Farm ad infinitum and a site that CiA have already used twice

Well, Josh has kindly offered his 'Russian' kit. I say 'kindly' - I dare say he will want something in exchange. Still, it might solve a problem but best avoided unless desperate, I say.
Completely agree. Josh (the money grabbing inbred swife fucking web footed retard) will definitely want something in exchange.
Still, flipside is that i could bash his fucking brains out with an e-tool in those tunnels and get away with it.....

Sounds like Gadge and Scaley are running scared for some reason. Gadges' pm smacks of an ultimatum to me as well.
Tell them to "bollocks". If Gadge wasn't so pigheaded, he'd see that it's two totally different scenarios. Hell, people will have to buy extra kit for the PBI game! So I really can't see what he's whining about.
As for josh, if we can get his kit and save the punters some money, it's worth maybe playing one of his sisks, just to shut him up (and to indulge in some cock company baiting).
