I started out aiming to play vietnam airsoft till I switched to WW2. I'd like to go as VC/NVA but only if my SVT is done by then- so I doubt I'm going.

I'll be there as NVA, not sure about Orky as he will be one week into new Uni - logistically tricky so it will be a last minute decision for him.

You are not wrong there Helga. My kit purchases will be virtually zero for the next three years. Part-time jobs and student loans are all very well but student debt is a terrible thing - I was brought up on 'never a lender nor borrower be'. Seems the whole country runs on credit now! Old git, I know. And typically CiA off-topic!

Indeed the K98 is very similar to the Arisaka

The arisaka is more like a Mosin. K98s were used by the French during the Indochina occupation and war, I think.

I think the VC had a lot of k98s sourced from the chinese since they used them during the 30s.

Depends I guess which book you look in, I'll scan the picture I was going by it looks like I guess more the G33 at the barrel end but it def has a K98 feel to it

Aye, loads of WW2 leftovers are perfect for Vietnam scenarios - K98, M1 & M2 Carbine, Garand, Thompson, Grease gun, MP44, MP40. Chuck in AK47, M16, M14 and it makes for a very easy loadout.
